If the Jays get him signed to an extension they could be tough the next few years. I guess we can hope that all those stars don't get along and prove you can't buy a pennant.

Yep--on paper and on the field are two different things. Sometimes a team filled with all-stars at every position doesn't jell.
Couple years ago when the Phillies had those 4 aces in their rotation, we all conceded the WS to them in April....and it didn't work out that way at all. Stuff happens.

Not knocking what the Jays (and the Angels) have done...I still hope the O's realize they have some holes to fill (and that they don't pin too much hope on two players coming back from major injuries). Would like to think last year wasn't just a one year abberation.

I like his story but at his age I would worry about overpaying him. Good move by the Blue Jays short term.

RE: Blue Jays acquiring Dickey

knucklers have demonstrated over the years that they can pitch into their 40's fairly effectively..Charlie Hough, Hoyt Wilhelm, the Niekro's, Wilbur Wood, Tim Wakefield....so perhaps Dickey is just now coming into his own and might have 2 or 3 decent years ahead of him...so he's a decent risk for a short contract IMO.

Or he could just flame out completely and be a 'one-hit wonder'.

I doubt that he's a one year wonder but at the same time I also doubt that he repeats another year like 2012. He may be another Wakefield it's hard to predict.

The rotation is good, not as good as Halladay, Brunett, Marcum, but a little bit deeper after that.

Just my opinion.

Throw the 2 seamer for strikes dammit.

Speaking of Marcum I'm surprised he still has not been picked up. He is no Cy Young but consistent.
