Showalter Shows A Lot Of Class!

The Orioles announced the hiring of Bobby Dickerson as Third Base Coach. The way it was done by Oriole Manager Buck Showalter was a classey move as told here by Dickerson: From Roch.

Dickerson, who served as the Orioles' minor league infield coordinator for the past three seasons, found out about his promotion in an unusual manner.

"I don't know if Buck (Showalter) would want me to say this, but he talked to my wife about it to make sure my family was OK with it," Dickerson said. "He wanted my family to be there when I was told. It was very special."

According to the article Showalter talked to Dickerson's wife before he told Dickerson he was hired, a classey move.

Seeing Brooks Robinson reminds us of a time when everything was good for the Orioles. When players played for the love of the game and were proud to be called a Baltimore Oriole.

Buck is all class. He and Dickerson go way back too. When Buck was an up-and-coming whiz kid manager in the Yankees system, Dickerson was coming up through the system as a prospect. Buck managed him from A ball to AA ball in 87-89.

Dickerson was also a minor league infield coach for the Diamondbacks while Buck was the manager there.

He has a strong background in infield instruction, from what I can tell. He's been around baseball for his whole life doing that. He worked with Machado a lot while he was in the farm system. Good to see him finally get a gig at the ML level. Let's hope he does as well as DeMarlo Hale did last year.

I don't think its any coincidence that it finally took the right manager to finally end the O's string of losing seasons.

Absolutely. Right man in the right spot at the right time. Can't give enough credit to Buck.
