Mock Draft Pre-combine

Trade down to pick number 25 and get number 87.

Round 1: Barrett Jones C/G/T
Round 2: Khaseem Greene LB
Round 3: David Quissenberry G
Round 4: Ryan Otten TE
Round 5: Matt Scott QB
Round 6: Josh Boyce WR

I could work with this, but I think TE is worth a higher round investment...

While I don't know much on all of these players I think this is the positional recipe that most fans are looking for.

The only pick I have an issue with is taking Barrett Jones in the 1st, but that's just based on personal taste more than anything. Solid mock though.

I'm a fan of Jones. Nasty player who is very physical. I also like his versatility, having played nearly every position along the offensive line. He's the type of cornerstone center you can build your offensive line around. He could play guard next year, then insert him at center in 2014 after Garza's contract is up.

RE: Mock Draft Pre-combine

I know some think taking Jones that high is an issue, but I am assuming a trade down to later in the First and, as JS said, I think he could be a cornerstone olineman. Everything I have read about the guys says he is extremely smart and nasty, that is what I look for in a center. I also like his veratility. Of course if I thought he would be there in round two, I would wait but I don't think he will be there. Also, there are only two oline guys who have first round talent, who I believe will be there when the bears pick, and who fir what I believe the blocking scheme will be (zone blocking) - those two guys are: Jones and Cooper, From what I have researches, Cooper isnt as versatile and as intelligent as Jones so I gotta go with Jones right now. remember this may change after the combine. So, get your franchise player in round one when you know you can and don't play games with it.

TE was my second important need but based on the video I have read and the information I have gathered: There just wasn't a TE in the second or third within reach. Yes, I said take your franchise player when you can, but that is round one. I believe in taking the best player available at a position of need but you gotta weigh those needs against who is available. On my draft board, there just wasn't a TE with five players of who I thought was the best overall players available. In fact, I had Jordan Reed as the nearest TE and Greene was 11 spots higher than him on my board. Also higher were Leon McFadden CB, Justin Pugh OT, and Tavarres King WR and I would have taken all those guys before Jordan Reed. Just lower than Reed were Chase Thomas LB, Robert Alford CB, and Mike Glennon QB. Same situation existed in round three, there just wasn't a TE nearby that I thought was worth a reach.

In round four I had: E.J. Manuel QB, D.J. Harper RB, Armonty Bryant DE, Jordan Rodgers QB, Abry Jones DT, Darius Johnson WR, John Wetzel OT, and then Ryan Otten TE. Otten was a slight reach on my board but everyone else around him were from solidly staffed positions.

RE: Mock Draft Pre-combine

I'd LOVE it if the Bears drafted E.J. Manuel. Not just based on his Senior Bowl performance, but I think he has the most upside out of all of the QB's in this draft class. Give him a chance to develop, with a HC/OC that knows how to develop QB's and he could be a special player in the near future. However, I have a feeling that he might go in the late 1st, early 2nd round.

As far as the rest of the QB's in this draft class are concerned, I like Tyler Wilson and Ryan Nassib, though I probably wouldn't take either of them higher than the 3rd round. Some team will probably take Geno Smith higher than he deserves and I'm genuinely concerned about any USC QB, so I'm not much of a fan of Barkley. Glennon, who walterfootball is in love with for some reason, I think he has overrated and bust written all over him. Strong arm be damned, Mayock and walterfootball think he's good based on one 4th quarter performance against Florida State. The complete body of work tells a completely different story in my opinion.

I'm still sticking to my gut and I really think Trestman and the Bears, draft a QB in April. Not sure which round, but I just have a feeling that Trestman is going to want a project, with priority #1 being to get Cutler to take the next step as a QB. Hopefully with a new HC coming in and drafting a QB, that it will push Cutler to be the player we all envisioned when we traded for him.

Glennon is grossman 2.0 in my opinion.

+1

At the Senior Bowl, Glennon would have like 50 bad throws and Mayock wouldn't mention it and then he'd make one big throw and Mayock would be like "and that is why he's considered a 1st round pick...look at that arm strength." Then he'd go into a rant about this infamous 2nd half of the Florida State game tape and blah, blah, blah.

I have seen nothing from Glennon to make me think he warrants this much attention. Strong arm and tall, but skinny. Walterfootball having him going #8 overall for about a month now, just pisses me off!

I hope they're right.  I don't like the guy before the 3rd round and if a team takes him early someone falls to us.
