Well that was quick. Writing was on the wall. The only thing he did well was play gunner. Don't need to pay a guy 800k just to do that.

Maybe we'll see him in Cleveland ? Carolina another landing spot.

OK, who is KR/PR ? Maybe Ford squeaks in unless somebody else steps up.

I think it will be Chris Williams, hope he is back soon.

Ford can't be any worse than Weems. Weems has been worthless since he got here.

Re: Bye-bye Weems

He had quite the crap game on Thursday. Fumbled on a return, looked extremely slow on his returns, got leveled by his own blocker, got his a*s chewed by Cutler for something (I assume he ran the wrong route), and ultimately became the new whipping boy of this board lol.

What are the odds he fumbles his termination papers on the way out of Halas hall?

Re: Bye-bye Weems

My own very personal opinion is just to have a good hands guy on KR's.  I'd rather take a knee in EZ and start at the 20  with our offense than take risks ( fumbles...injuries ) on KO's.
Punt returns, another story. If they're long, then a speed guy ( Williams ). If not so long, then a possession/hands  guy.
You'll think I'm crazy if I say who.

Well, in their brief careers with the Bears, Ford has been worse than Weems.

Well, 63 Ford just might be on his way to.

Bold move by Emery...I like it. Play like dog sh t....you get cut.

Didn't think he was a lock for the roster but hiim getting cut before final. It's makes it a pretty bold move.

He's a seasoned vet.  They probably cut him early out of respect so he has a chance to sign on with another team.

Re: Bye-bye Weems

Stats say he returned 5 kicks for 37 yards last year.  I don't remember him returning 5 kicks last year.  And, OMFG is 7 yards per KR even possible??

A few weeks ago, I thought he was pretty much a lock to make the roster. I like the bold move by Emery as well. Sends a message to the rest of the vets.

If Phil Emery asks you to take a pay cut, you might as well pack up your stuff and leave.

J Webb took a pay cut - released

E. Bennett took a pay cut - released

E. Weems took a pay cut - he gone

Think Bennett declined the last pay cut didn't he? As in the one right before he was released.

Bennett declined to take a pay cut this season, but he did take a pay cut last season

If you want a good read, pick up the tribune today where Rich Campbell has Weems as a lock on the 53 man roster.....
