Preseason Game 2 Discussion Thread - Jags @ Bears - 7PM CT ESPN

The Bears second scrimmage of the preseason comes to you tonight courtesy of ESPN when the Bears will take on the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars at Soldier Field.

I think most people will be interested in seeing how Jimmy Clausen does starting against more starting caliber players.  By all reports, he looks to be locking up the backup role and hopefully can continue his good play tonight.

Oh, Black Unicorn should be back in action.  Will be good to see him back in the mix.

The defense (especially the DL) looked promising.  I would like to see another nice performance tonight.  I am cautiously optimistic we could see a middle of the road defense this season, which should be all we'd need for a playoff appearance.

Thanks for this update. Thought I was going to have to wait to catch it on NFLN replay.
I'm out on the West Coast, so they often don't list the games televised until late ...giving preference to WC teams .

Looks like it's pizza and beer tonight for me ( though I have to settle for the California cardboard and not Chicago pan, but at least there are some good craft beers out here that rival Leinie's ).

Are JJ's starting Bortles ?

Nope, Henne will start, according to this article from ESPN.  Bortles will see action in the second half.

Shea better hit something other than the turf tonight.

What I'm watching for:

- can Clausen get a firm grasp on that #2 job?

- will Carey be able to supplant Draughn on the depth chart with a strong performance? (I came away very impressed with this kid last week)

- who is going to step up for the slot job? (I'm not sold on Weems. I want to see Morgan get an opportunity with the 1's)

- can the starting d-line continue to stuff the run and create pressure? (I thought that starting unit looked damn good last week)

- will anyone cement themselves as a starting safety?

- can Conte not suck?

- will Zach Miller continue to impress?

- will McClellin improve off of his poor showing last week? I mean, it can't get much worse, can it?

- will Bostic be able to shed a block?

- will the Bears give Greene a look with the 1's?

- Crossing my fingers that everyone stays healthy!!!

People seem fixated on Shea a lot when it comes to the linebackers. Don't see much mentioning of Bostic, who's arguably looked just as bad. At least Shea has the excuse of learning a new position.

+1

I've mentioned it a few times, but Bostic just wasn't good last week.

He missed some tackles and he just cannot seem to be able to get off of a block.

Hopefully him and McClellin can turn it around tonight and from here on out.

You can either wait until it replays on NFLN (if you have it), or you can go on the sports streaming sites on the internet.  I don't want to post specific links because I'm not sure if it would violate Scout's TOS, but a quick google search would bring up several.

If you have PC, I recommend watching it in Firefox or Chrome with the AdBlock extension installed to avoid getting spammed with the ads.

Don't have that either. I have an antenna and it is getting pretty impossible to watch sports anymore. Last football season i had cable turned on just for the football season and then had it shut off again. Was planning to do so again but i thought i would wait until the regular season started.

Boom says he thinks the Bears can win the division.  Ditka seems to  half-heartedly agree that it's possible.  The rest acted like they were hearing stand up comedy.  Well I guess until the Bears do something about it, it's fair game.
