I think that's pretty accurate. Safety scares me and I hate to see Shea and Bostic where they are but at this point I don't see them really having any other options.

Fales to the practice squad. Hurst to the practice squad Miller cut. Trevor Scott, Matt Milligan and Charles Leno in.

Re: Who is your 53?

QB (2) - Cutler, Clausen

RB (4) -  Forte, Carey, Ford, Fiammeta

WR (6)- Marshall, Jeffrey, Wilson, Weems, Williams, Morgan (flip a coin)

TE (3) - Bennett, Rosario, Mulligan

OL (8) - Bushrod, Slauson, Garza, Long, Mills, Britton, de la Puente, Ola

DL (9) - Allen, Ratliff, Paea, Houston, Young, Sutton, Ferguson, Scott, Bass

LB (7) - Briggs, Williams, Bostic, McClellin, Jones, Greene, Senn

CB (6) - Tillman, Jennings, Fuller, Hayden, Frey, Hurst

S (5) - Wilson, Mundy, Vereen, McCray, Conte

ST (3) Gould, O'Donnell, Hartson

Practice Squad - Lynch, Fales, Leno Jr,

I kept Rosario, Scott, and Mulligan because they are all running with the starters on ST.

Cuts - Collins, J. Brown, Palmer, Washington, Steltz, Draughn, Boggs,

I know, this roster is kind of out of whack. I have 23 on offense and 27 on defense. I think Senn and McCray make it only for ST play. I wanted to keep 9 OL, but I can't decide who to get rid on defense to make that happen.

From everything I have heard Trevor Scott is ahead of both Washington and Bass.

QB (2) - Cutler, Clausen

RB (4) - Forte, Carey, Ford, Fiammeta

WR (6)- Marshall, Jeffrey, Wilson, Weems, Williams, Morgan (flip a coin)

TE (3) - Bennett, Rosario, Mulligan (they could go with just 2 here)

OL (8) - Bushrod, Slauson, Garza, Long, Mills, Britton, de la Puente, Ola

DL (10) - Allen, Ratliff, Paea, Houston, Young, Sutton, Ferguson, Scott, Bass, Collins Last yr proved good DL help is hard to find.

LB (7) - Briggs, Williams, Bostic, McClellin, Jones, Greene, Senn

CB (5) - Tillman, Jennings, Fuller, Hayden, McManis - McManis is a core ST player. Emery wanted him back.

S (5) - Wilson, Mundy, Vereen, McCray, Conte - Vereen could play CB in a pinch.

ST (3) Gould, O'Donnell, Hartson

Re: Who is your 53?

Although I know little about Draughn, I hope the Bears keep him.  Of all the RBs competing to back up Forte, he's the only one to have carried the ball or received a pass in a regular season game.

Yours is a good list, but I found some kinks:

3Q--Cutler, Clausen, Palmer (Palmer not by much, edges Fales..Fales goes to the Practice Squad)

3 RB-- Forte, Carey, Draughn (Ford has too much fumblelitis)

1 FB-- Fiammeta

2 TE-- Bennett, Mulligan (It could be Miller or Rosario, but if Mulligan keeps showing up, he takes the job)

6 WR-- Marshall, Jeffery, Wilson, Williams, Spurlock, Morgan (Weems gets cut)

8 OL-- Bushrod, Slauson, Garza, Long, Mills, De la Puente, Ola, Britton

9 DL-- Allen, Houston, Young, Bass, Paea, Ratliff, Sutton, Ego, Scott (Trevor has had a great camp, Collins still nursing injuries...odd man out)

7 LB-- Briggs, Williams, Bostic, McClellin, Jones, Greene, Senn

6 CB-- Peanut, Fuller, Jennings, Hurst, Hayden, McManis

5 S-- Wilson, Vereen, Mundy, McCray, Lynch (Conte has to go....need to see Lynch given a chance, can't be worse than Conte)

3 ST-- Gould, Mega Punt, LS

Out...

James Brown -- can't hack it, the guy has been given chances, but can't put it together

Cornelius Washington -- don't let the door hit you on your way out...so much athleticism, but no football instincts

Conte -- do I have to say more?

Steltz -- s-u-c-k-s

Ford -- like I said, poor ball security

Weems -- his days of good action are over...not showing to be of benefit in receiving game, and Spurlock looks better in PR/KR

Frey -- I thought about him making it, but on second thought, I think McManis is better and good in ST. Frey has underachieved

Um...

I know you want to see Conte go away, but did you seriously just pick an undrafted rookie QB converted to RB as the guy to beat out last year's starting safety?

Re: Who is your 53?

2 QB: Cutler, Clausen ( Fales to PS )

5 RB: Forte, Carey, Ford, Lynch ( emergency QB ), Fiametta ( Perry PS )

3 TE: Bennett, Rosario, Mulligan

6 WR: Marshall, Jeffery, Q Wilson, Weems, Spurlock, Bellamy  ( Williams PS )

8 OL: Bushrod, Slauson, Long, Mills, Garza, De la Puente, Ola, Britton  ( Leno Jr. , Groy  PS )

9 DL: Allen, Houston, Ratliff, Paea, Scott, Sutton, Ferguson, Young, Bass

7 LB: Briggs, Williams, Bostic, McClellin, Jones, Greene, Senn  ( Lattimore PS )

5 CB: Tillman, Jennings, Fuller, Hayden, Hurst

5 S: Wilson, Mundy, Vereen, McCray, MD Jennings ( Trice PS )

3 ST: Gould, O'Donnell, LS ( Hartson )

Conte stays on PUP list all or most of year, until it's seen how the S lottery works out ...OR is cut with an injury settlement. If cut, then Collins might go on PUP.

Gocic, Gandy, Frey, McManis, Moss, Roland, Washington in bubble zone.

Collins cannot go on PUP, he's already participated in a practice.

Last year's starting safety? Yes, but also next to the worst starting safety (the worst being Major Wright) in the league last year, some accomplishment.

On the other hand, I know putting Jordan Lynch there is a LONG reach, but tell me what better option is out there?  Going back to the worst is not a solution.

Jordan Lynch is not going to make the final 53 as much as I would like him too.  Especially not as a safety since he has not played a single snap in TC.  Hopefully he makes the Practise squad as I am truly rooting for him.  So maybe Christian Jones makes the 53 as the third QB? Makes about the same sense

Yeah, you're both right. Meant IR. Course, I hope that's not necessary for regular season. Nate was playing better than others at position last year before he got hurt.

your cutting Draughn? I wouldn't he'll be right behind Forte when the Bears return home. I would be carefull of cutting Collins also. Maybe put him on PUP for four weeks.

Agree about Draughn. From JS' camp reports, sounds like he's getting a lot of reps with the ones. Does Ford get cut then?

Collins can't go on the PUP list, he's already practiced. My thinking is they keep 4 DTs in Paea, Sutton, Ego, and Ratliff. Then, they've been sliding Houston inside on 3rd downs.

Still a crapshoot at this point. They haven't even played a preseason game yet.

Really can't see them not taking Collins and 5 Dts after what happened last year even with Houston kicking in on nickel packages.

Yeah, based on what Emery has been saying, it sounds like he really views that spot as a premium and keeping 10 guys is probably going to be SOP from now on.

Re: Who is your 53?

Good point. My first run through, I wanted to keep 9 OL and 10 DL, but it's a numbers game. I'm sure there will be a few surprises on final cuts. I hope Collins does make the team, but where do you cut from?
