Re: Training Camp Updates

Some notes I've picked up from the Twitterverse.

-Kyle Long is sick and will miss the first couple days of camp.
-Conte will start camp on the PUP list.
-Adrian Wilson was so impressive in his workout that there was very little debate on whether or not to sign him.

Re: Training Camp Updates

With Conte sidelined until 1st preseason game, I think the odds of him making the team are quite long.
Although I think Trestman will make the final decision as late as possible to give every chance. I'm thinking somebody will become the frontrunner for the starting job before we play any preseason game.

The Tribune camp report is the first I've heard of Steltz having had groin surgery in offseason.

Long should be up to strength soon. Very glad it is not anything more serious.

I could see Conte staying on the PUP list through week 6. You can keep him and he doesn't count towards the final 53. Then, you don't have to make a decision on him until October.

Lets do it.

Biggest tweet that stood out to me was that Wilson wasnt guaranteed the #3 spot. I thought this guy was already a stud? Why is this happening?

Oh and thank God football is here. To non Bear Report subscribers, there's no better time to than right now until season starts. Believe me.

Re: Training Camp Updates

The word Trestman kept repeating was "rebuilding."  Doesn't mean anything, but I was surprised to hear it because I thought that word was taboo.
Trestman and Emery have been sending different (almost opposite) signals regarding QBs all year.

Re: Training Camp Updates

I heard the quote this morning. He really isn't using the word rebuilding in the sense of how it's normally used in sports. Rebuilding teams generally don't have playoff aspirations. I would think not making the playoffs this year would be considered a failed season baring circumstance.

Re: Training Camp Updates

Too many teams have managed some success when they typically would have been in a rebuilding mode. Reaching the playoffs isn't so unthinkable for a team that just went through some major changes (new coaches, lots of new players...). I mean think about...years ago when a team changed coaches no one expected anything from them for at least a couple of years. Today? A team gets a new coach and a year later they're in the playoffs.

The word "rebuilding" isn't taboo anymore.

Weems and McManis got into a minor scuffle.

I personally LOVE when teammates get into it during practice.

Fuller looked good. It was a great day to be at camp. My kids and I really enjoyed ourselves.

That being said let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Both of Fuller's picks came against backups.
