Chicago Takes Charge - Peter King MMQB

This is in todays MMQB by Peter King. Trestman and Cutler went to New York together to learn about developing a more ethical locker room. Good read.

Trestman will also be a guest writer for MMQB in the coming weeks while Peter King is on vacation.

Wait, this does not fit the well-established meme that Cutler is a douche and lacks any leadership. What are the morons on cable and talk radio gonna talk about now?

Nice. Thanks Jimmy. Trestman is going to be very good for Chicago going forward, not just for the Bears but for Chicago as a whole. If they are not careful though they might start making Cutler actually look like a good guy.

I was having Cutler flashbacks every time someone started to dish on Lebron

I've been thinking the exact same thing.

The people who buy into the "Cutler doesn't care and isn't a team player" crap will continue regardless. I was in the city this weekend and a bartender started an argument with me that Cutler wasn't a top 20 player and that he quit during the nfc championship game. The can't be convinced so it's a waste of time anyway.

Agreed, you'll never convince people that he didn't quit and that he doesn't care.......which are both silly.  Now, was it top 20 player or top 20 QB?  I'll defend he's a fringe top 10 QB and think this year he becomes top 5.  Starting to get optimistic about he and Trestman becoming a tremendous QB/Coach combo for the next 5 years or so.  But I can't argue he's a top 20 player......yet.

I meant to say QB and not player. Anyone that doesn't see him as top 20 QB is just a hater.

Re: Chicago Takes Charge - Peter King MMQB

Yeah that whole fallout from that game still pisses me off. Playing behind the oline he did and not getting hurt more often shows him to be one of the toughest QB's out there, not one of the softest.

I think my favorite Jay Cutler play isn't a touchdown pass. It's the game against Houston. He got hit so hard he was concussed and had to come out. But before he came out, after he got hit, he ran the ball on the next play, lowered his head, and knocked the sh t out of the player tackling him.

A cowboys friend of mine and (former) Cutler basher, text me after that play and said "Ok, I was wrong. He's a bad ass. Dammit".

Re: Chicago Takes Charge - Peter King MMQB

If Cutler wasn't a TOP TEN QB he would have gone much deeper into free agency without a deal. Heck, he never even made it INTO free agency.

But, you know, some people think just any ol' QB will do... And this was before we got the supposed "QB Whisperer".

Re: Chicago Takes Charge - Peter King MMQB

Ive never really known any of the specifics when it comes to the CFL and it was interesting to read some of the game rules, field and roster differences compared to the NFL.

"I think I’d like to thank Marc Trestman for kicking off our CFL coverage—seeing he’s the NFL guy most well-versed on the Canadian landscape. I’d also tell you this: Over the years we’ve probably had 30 or so people guest-write this column, and I don’t recall one who wanted every word just so the way Trestman did. He and I went back and forth four or five times with corrections and additions. I can see why his players all say he’s a great detail guy. He certainly was with me on this column"
You always hear about coaches being so anal when it comes to the details. It seems like theyre not kidding when it comes to Trestman.
