@ZachZaidman: Jimmy Clausen has attempted 299 passes in the NFL. Jordan Palmer has attempted 15. David Fales and Jerrod Johnson both have zero attempts.

Don't see it amounting to anything but Trestman did work with him before he was drafted.

Clausen is the worst NFL QB I've ever seen.

And yes, I remember every QB that's played for the Bears that isn't Cutler and McCown.

He's the most experienced backup QB on the roster. This could be an upgrade at backup quarterback. We'll see how it works out.

With Trestman I like to stay optimistic about signings like this but this one is touch. He is really really really awful

Sorry but there are absolutely no NFL QBs worse than Henry Burris, Todd Collins, and especially Jonathan Quinn.

ESPN: Bears sign QB Jimmy Clausen

m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=11038521

Clausen put together a strong workout, personal interview and an X's and O's session on the board for the team Thursday at Halas Hall.

As a rookie in Carolina, Clausen started 10 games, throwing for three touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 outings. The Panthers finished that season 2-14.

Clausen spent all of 2013 on Carolina's injured reserve after suffering a torn labrum in his right shoulder during the final game of the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Re: Bears sign Jimmy Clausen

In the 2 full regular season games that Todd Collins played for the bears in 2010 his stats were:

QB Rating 5.9, 37% completion rate, 34 yards/game, 0 TDs, 5 Ints

We were blown out by 14 and 17 pts against teams that only scored 17 and 23 pts respectively. (how our D held opponents to those low scores when he threw 5 ints is a fricken miracle in of itself)  The only reason we didn't get shut out in either of those games, is because our ST and defense put us in some great redzone situations, and Collins didn't manage to drop us out of FG range on all of them.

And that doesn't even include his abysmal performance in the 2010 NFC Championship, when our 3rd string emergency QB Caleb Hanie came in and looked 10000x better than Collins.

Jordan Palmer hasn't played since 2010. He has 15 career pass attempts.

You aren't old enough to remember Bob Avelini or Rick Mirer former Bear QBs.

Clausen is only 26?  For some reason I thought he was like 35.
