Packers release Charles Woodson

Packers release Charles Woodson

I have to admit I am glad to see this guy gone (never really liked him) but I wonder where he will land.

Good for the packers to know when a guy is done and move on. It wasn't easy with Favre either but sometimes the tough decision needs to be made without worrying about fan reaction.

Re: Packers release Charles Woodson

His play really declined over the past couple of seasons and I think they should have let him go last year as he cost them dearly in the playoffs. I think he retires but there will probably be some team in need that thinks he will help them. Just glad it's NOT the Bears.

RE: Packers release Charles Woodson

I really liked Woodson in college...one of my all-time favorites. Then the Raiders drafted him and I still followed his career pretty close. Then he went to Green Bay and completely stabbed me in the back! Now, I can't stand him! Lol.

Green Bay did a smart thing though. The guy is 36 years old and would make somewhere around $10 million for the 2013 season. Like Northsiders touched on a bit...it's tough to cut the cord sometimes, but it's a business and that contract, the injuries and his age probably wouldn't help the Packers next season.

Salary too high for his production; Woodson can still run and knows how to get away with grabbing a little jersey, so he probably will resurface elsewhere.

Good riddance - hopefully this will benefit Jay as Woodson was a big talker on the field.

Maybe the bears will sign woodson to be a reciever because we all know how much jay loves to throw to him lol

Or the Niners since Aaron loves to throw floaters up to guys in red in gold. Have the 49ers stopped scoring on the pack despite the season being over for weeks???

I just hope the Bears rebound next year because the NFC North has been embarrassing in the last two off seasons.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzip.... bloop bloop..... hey, look at those!!!

Glad Woodson is gone, he killed us.  I couldn't stand how much he got away with as a DB.  Packers are unloading.  Heard they also released C Jeff Saturday.

Woodson has really slowed down. He was having trouble this year reaching down to punch guys in the nuts.

He hasn't officially retired yet. The reason being is that he wanted to get released by the Packers so he could officially retired a Colt therefore he will sign a 1-day contract with them shortly and then retire:

Only thing I can say is when I heard it happen I took a look at the Packers board and I was surprised by the amount of posts predicting he'd land with the Bears. eek1

EDIT: I guess they don't really care for our safeties. Corner depth maybe? We could use that.

Re: Packers release Charles Woodson

The Packers don't always do things the right way (never use free agency, draft sh*t ZBS system o-linemen, etc.).  But, as Northsiders said, they generally are good at knowing when to part with players who hit a wall.

On another note ... after waiting 28 YEARS ... I finally got my season tickets and still can't believe it.  I was 13 when I put my name on that list - in 1986, when YOU were the defending world champs.
