Bears hire Marc Trestman as Head Coach

An NFL source just told me  # Bears will hire Marc Trestman as the next head coach.

Marc Trestman, coach of the Montreal Alouettes, selected over # Colts OC Bruce Arians and  # Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell.

#23 OF CHICAGO SPORTS:
         23 - SANDBERG
         23 - JORDAN
         23 - HESTER

saw that and think Emery did well.  The organization handled this well.  Hopefully Trestman will take this team to the next level.

Aye! Here's to a great season for the Bears.

It's too early to know anything about this hire for sure, so ill enjoy learning about Trestman. Well have plenty of time to complain later if it doesn't work out ;)

Hopefully Trestman can bring the Offensive innovation that the Bears were founded on. I know everyone thinks the Bears are a Defense first team, but I can't figure out where that came from.

Halas and Clark Shaughnessy developed the T-Formation that "Thrilled the Nation" in the 1940 Champ game when the Bears rolled over the Skins 73-0. Halas was an Offensive innovator, the Bleeping Fight Song talks about Offense not Defense and the 1985 team was lead by an Offensive Head Coach.

Championship teams usually are top 5 or top 10 in both Offense and Defense. (recent history has shown that some teams may not have season ratings in top 10 in both, but when they get hot they are)

I for one am glad we are getting back to our roots, which is a Championship team that is good both offensively and defensively. Great Hire

He can't even spell his first name right. Everyone knows Mark is spelled with a K and not a C. I don't know if I can take the Canadian culture switch. In our country its called ham.

All in good fun...after listening to those that have worked with this guy in the past, I think the Bears got themselves a pretty decent coach. Super Bowl Super Bears!!!!

Congrats Bears fans, Browns fan here but I'm an ex-Montrealer. Followed the Alouettes since I was a kid, got drafted by them too. Trestman has a long list of credentials, and was well respected by his players and fans. I think you've made a great choice for an HC and I wish you the best.

BTW, the Bears are my fav NFC team, the first NFL game I saw was the Ditka coached Bears vs the Glanville coached Falcons (Deion Sanders)at the old Soldier Field in 1990. Got family in Chicago, love the city.

We'll see ya in Cleveland next season.

It's done...

I'll admit. I have no idea who this guy is. Other than what I've read the last few days, he's a total question mark. From what PE said about his expectations of the next coach, I'm guessing it'll be a stronger focus on the offense than we've seen in some time in Chicago... It'll be fun to get to "meet" the new coach, and get to know him.

Firing Lovie and hiring Trestman could turn out to be a great move... or a terrible one...

I'm hoping for GREAT!!

No matter which of the three was hired as coach, it was going to take me a long time to talk myself into liking the move. This one is going to take me a really, really long time.

Considering the quality of player that played for and has come out in support of Trestman and his abilities, then I am willing to take their word for it. I am hopeful that he will be a good hire and will get the best out of the offensive weapons we have. I'm guessing he'll keep Rod to run the D.

I'm sincerely glad that is out of the way. Next move up: Goodbye Tice. I saw a tweet about how he was running the Atlanta Hawks offense the other night.

I'm not a Phil fanboy and I don't love this move if true. I'll try to be be positive since I don't have a reason to be negative but I need to fall in love vs living it like no reason like some may.

I'm a bears fan so he has my support but its like letting someone date your daughter. You hope for the best but have your doubts.

Sounds like a good hire for you guys. Ties to the SB 2002 Raiders and San Francisco 49ers. The guy is a god in the CFL circles.

The West Coast Offense is coming to Chicago.

As long as it took for Shea McClellin?

If Trestman hires the right people, this could work out. But if he hired people the way Lovie did, oh boy . . .
