Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
Hayden gave up so many passes yesterday that I've never seen DJ Moore give up. They were clearly picking on the guy. He also missed the tackle on the TD by Golden Tate. Hayden didn't make one play on the ball...and what did I see when I looked for a replacement for him? DJ Moore on the sideline in street clothes. Yes, Lovie, you can't have guys talking about your QB, & saying stuff that may cause controversy in the media...but if you want to win, if you want to go to the playoffs, if you want to remain the coach of the Bears, I better see DJ Moore on that field next week against the Vikings. P.S. Do NOT fire Tice, I know he's been horrible (especially that run play at the 50yd line on 3rd & 12) but Cutler is just now starting to settle into the offense...he's looking better and better. If his wrs other than Marshall would just make plays for him...his stats would look outstanding these past 2 weeks.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
Running a draw on 3rd and 12 was not a horrible play when you have a weak line and holding on to a lead. You play field position game and you don't make a mistake at that point on the field.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
The DJ Moore stuff is ridiculous. His absence did not cost us this game. That's just silly.
Though I have to agree with OP that I did not care for the two draw plays on the two long 3rd downs. I get the thinking, I get they don't want to take a risk, but the pass pro looked competent for most of the game and Cutler was playing very well. Not saying you chuck the ball up for grabs, but call a pass play and see if Marshall can get open on an intermediate length pass, maybe he gets some YAC and the first. If not, you can still punt and pin them deep.
Medium risk/high reward. I think you try to put the game away when your QB is playing well.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
3rd and 12 is about a 10% success rate I believe as an NFL Average. Probably 5-7% with the Bears.
Only takes 1 play for Bruce Irvin to come around the end and get a strip sack.
You also want to keep the clock running in that situation as wel

I don't know the facts on the DJ Moore situation, but I do believe that Lovie has a secret doghouse, and it does cost us sometimes.
Over the years, we've seen too many productive players disappear from the field for mysterious reasons.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
DJ benching certainly didn't cost the game, but I was thinking the same thing, why the hell is Hayden in there. He doesn't seem to be comfortable in the nickel, and Moore excelled at it. Hi benching has certainly shown up on 3rd downs the last few weeks. skepticalbear wrote: The DJ Moore stuff is ridiculous. His absence did not cost us this game. That's just silly.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
Like ive said the two games he's been inactive, this is all about DJ Moore the loud mouth, not DJ Moore the football player. Moore i think had one really bad game, i think it was the Cowboys game. But hes never been as consistently bad as Hayden has shown.
Lovie didnt like Moore coming out and talking about Cutler and he certainly didnt like Moore coming out and saying Lovie screamed at him over his comments. I support Lovie but the guy can be so full of **** sometimes. He said something like say what you want, just put your name to it. Moore put his name to it and got ripped for it and lost his job because of it. Its not a significant, phase changing benching but Lovie made this defense worse a bit because of his my way or the highway PR bullshit.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
Let be real here.
What is said to the media...and what is said to those players are two different things.
Lovie Smith is the boss.
When Lovie SMith brings in DJ Moore after he made those comments and told him to shut up....What does DJ Moore do?
He runs out and tells the media that Lovie yelled at him.
Now if that guy is that f cking stupid....how do we know what else he has done that is equally as dumb.
DJ Moore made his bed. And there is a reason these players love their coach....Because he handles issues like that behind closed doors and he defends the players in public.
if DJ Moore is benched because of conduct....Then So be it. If that hurts the defense...THen so be it. There is a boss and they know the rules. It's the difference between Lovie SMith and JIm Schwartz.
How does Belichek handle Dj Moore if he had done that.....I bet he gets cut.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
Maybe the guy wasnt thnking when he was talking to the media. Just started talking and it slipped that lovie yelled at him. Is that worth being benched multiple games and hurting your defense? Knowing how bad Hayden has played, is such a petty statement worth it? I hope not. Moore isnt a bright guy, i think everyone can tell that by listening to him. Sometimes people who dont think first say things. It wasnt the worst thing in the world. If Lovie doesnt want anyone to say anything then come out and say that. Dont lie and say put your name on it.

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
It's a job. DJ Moore literally walked out of the office after Smith and told reporters that Smith yelled at him...according to Zach Zaidman. This was after Lovie Defused the issue by saying the whole shpeal about putting a name on it. I don't need to tell you, because I am sure you know. LOVIE LIES TO THE MEDIA. Thats how he has been since he has been here. It won't change. DJ Moore made Lovie look like an idiot. DJ Moore went out and made his boss look stupid....maybe that cost Dj his job. Accountability....right there for you. I expect Dj Moore to be back in the lineup on Sunday....but the only person to blame for DJ Moore not being in the lineup.....is DJ Moore. Again....How do you think Bill Belichek handles that situation? Is DJ Moore still even on the roster.....i doubt it. Anytime23 wrote: Maybe the guy wasnt thnking when he was talking to the media. RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
He has some good ones....but this is by far my favorite DJ Moore quote..... “I didn’t go to school to learn too much, to be honest,” said Moore, who opted for the NFL draft with a year of eligibility remaining. “I should’ve spent a little more time (in class) while I was in school. “I’m not the smartest guy, but I probably have the most common sense. I learned fast, but I could’ve done better. Once I got to school and got good (at football), I was like, ‘Man, this is for the birds. It’s time to leave.’”

RE: Lovie's Doghouse causes loss
BB probably benches him. But Lovie isnt BB and honestly, im tired of everything being a comparison to BB and the Patriots.
Maybe he did make Lovie look stupid and yes, its accountability. But i wish Lovie would start thinking more about players performances, rather than their personalities. Davis is one of his guys and despite being a non factor at best, he gets to play every single week. Makes me wish he would talk about a teammate or his coach to the media. This team will actually be better off.
Lovie should worry less about what the media thinks and says and worry about the guys on the field. Its not like Moore questioned his coaches or their decisions. He said he got yelled at and made Lovie look like the liar that he is. Big fn deal. This lockerroom and team is strong enough to make this a non issue.

It's a comparison of what one of the best coaches to ever coach would do. I am not sure why that is an issue for you. Unless it's because you know the right thing to do is sit his @ss down.

And if the Bears had a better option for Kellen Davis....He would be out there. I don't get why that is such a hard concept. Maybe part of your anger should be directed at Phil Emery for giving Kellen Davis 3 million dollars a year.
Lovie should worry less about what the media thinks and says and worry about the guys on the field. Its not like Moore questioned his coaches or their decisions. Lovie doesn't give a sh t what the media thinks...That is why he gets the sh t he does. He says what he has to and that it
That Locker room is a strong place....and it is strong for the same principles that you want Lovie Smith to go against to put DJ Moore back on the field...Cant have it both ways.
He basically gave Moore a pass for the original comments, and 5 minutes later he completely f cked up again.

He basically gave Moore a pass for the original comments, and 5 minutes later he completely f cked up again. Because hes arguably the best coach ever is the exact reason why i dont like everything being compared to him and his teams. Its an unfair comparison. How do they know they dont have anyone better? This coaching staff hasnt exactly been good at identifying offensive talent and certainly not good at developing it. and im not blaming my guy Emery for anything. I think the next two years will show us more about who he is and his MO. Its not anger btw, i was angry a couple days ago. Not anymore. Lovie does care what they think. Why else would he get butthurt for Moore making him look like a liar? Maybe its more of making him look like a liar in front of people he doesnt care for, giving them some kind of firepower, idk. The lockerroom is strong because those veteran players that have defined this team for nearly a decade believe in the coach. The rest follow. A player of DJ Moores caliber isnt going to cause some kind of split in the locker room or any kind of issues with saying "He yelled at me". And i can guarantee you if one of our big time veterans came out and said what DJ said, Lovie would not dare bench them because it would be too damn obvious.
