Jared Allen

Jared Allen

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen could hear from the NFL this week for a blindside block following an interception by teammate Antoine Winfield during the team's 28-10 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

In the clip above, you can clearly see Allen launching himself and hitting Bears guard Lance Louis in the head or neck area. No penalty was called, but FOX's Mike Pereira thought it should have been a penalty.

Allen does not have a long history of fines related to hits to the head. He was fined in 2008 for hitting Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub low.

NFL.com contributor and Fox Sports Insider Jay Glazer reported that the NFL threatened players this week in fine letters that multiple infractions could lead to a suspension. The NFL suspended Ravens safety Ed Reed, but the suspension was overturned on appeal. We contacted the NFL for comment, but have yet to hear back.

We'd expect Allen to receive a hefty fine for this hit, but a suspension wouldn't make sense because he's not a repeat offender. The Bears lost both starting guards to injury this week

When in doubt, blame Cutler !

Buck toothed gay hillbilly dumbass cheap shot artist.

I never knew until this morning that he only had 13 reps at 225 at the combine as a D-lineman.

Add weakling to the list.

Jared Allen is useless in the locker room, as well as his personal life, if he has no use of his knees.

I think Jared Allen is one of the worst Dlineman against the run, been saying that for years. He's a demon for pass rush, but can't stop the run at all.

Does anyone have a link of this cheap shot?

I missed it.

RE: Jared Allen

As a Bear fan I'm pissed he injured our best lineman but I don't see it as a cheap shot.  I've seen guys just go to make a hit on a QB on a INT just to clock them this was no different.  It was a hit to the head but other than a penalty and a small fine that's about all I call it.

If this was Suh it would add to the laundry list of questionable hits but I don't see Allen in the same light.  He is a hillbilly and I can't stand him but I see this hit as more of a mistake than intentional.  He just doesn't have the track record like Suh.

I assume you feel the same about Suh.

1. Allen has been fined multiple times by the NFL, both for cheap shots, and off the field criminal activity. Like Suh, he was even forced to meet the commissioner in person to talk about his style of play and how it can't continue.

2. Allen launched himself through the air to spear Louis helmet to helmet, while both men were in a vertical position. When Allen made contact with Louis, neither of his feet were on the ground. Again, both players were standing upright.

Jared Allen is a known cheap shot artist, who's history will come into play when the fines are handed out. How can a launch into the air to hit someone helmet to helmet who is standing upright, be unintentional?

No steak and lobster for Fagnar this week.

Lack of a track record doesn't mean it was not intentional. He left his feet and intentionally lead with the crown of his helmet. It was a cheap and dirty play. He'll get fined- hopefully severely. Player safety has to count for something.

I'm surprised you would defend Allen when it was obvious that the hit was a launch.  LL is gone for the year.

I don't know... what Suh did (does) compared to what Allen did IMO was night and day.  I'm not defending him I just didn't think it was a dirty play what I see in real time compared to what I see in slow motion is different but that was just my opinion.  I couldn't watch the second half they switched it to the Bucs game so all I saw was on the internet today which the video was taken down that I watched.  Plays are fast and things happen fast.

I have always enjoyed watching Allen play, never got the feeling he was a dirty player. That hit while maybe not what i would call intentionally dirty, was an illegal hit. I mean, he launched himself helmet first into Louis' head, right? If Conte is going to get the fine he received for his hit earlier this year then this hit should get double that and probably a game.
As for him being an ignorant redneck, i kinda like that about him?

RE: Jared Allen

It was clearly an intentional hit.  It's bad enough that Lovie and Idonije both mentioned it publicly from the press podium, and they almost never do that on questionable hits.  That should tell you they thought it was a blatantly cheap hit, almost assuredly with intent to injure.

They were losing badly, and that was the only response he could muster.  It's one thing when guys play physical with the game on the line, but this game was clearly a Bears blowout and he just wanted to take it out on someone.

I hate wishing injury on another player but here's hoping Allen gets hit by a semi leaving the restroom at a truck stop.

Yet the Saints are the "Dirtiest team" in the NFL according to the Qweens fans. That hit sure sounded dirty to me. Fox switched us Texans to The Bucs game at half time. Next time Bears O-line should return the favor.

Unless Allen got a bonus in the locker room for that hit after the game i think you gotta go with the Saints. Until Proven Otherwise.
