A chance Tillman might not play Sunday

His wife is due any day with their 4th child.  He said he would miss the game if the baby comes on Sunday.  Would like to send and early congrats to Charles and Jackie and hope everything goes well!

Induce labor Friday or Saturday - JUST KIDDING - all the best to him & his family.

I wear my colors proudly everyday!!!! Paying homage to the greatest players ever on Offense & Defense in the NFL - enough said in my opinion!

If he does then he does. It would suck for us and the Bears.

Kelvin Hayden is not a bad option if Tillman can't go. Lots of cover two experience, similar size, not afraid to tackle.

Damn it Peanut, keep it in your pants. Tim Jennings can't cover Andre Johnson!

The Score is a little off...

Chicago Bears CB Charles Tillman has said he could miss Sunday's game against Houston because his wife is expecting to give birth.

“The wife is due any day, so hopefully this baby can stay in until after the game on Sunday,” Tillman told CBS affiliate WSCR AM-670. “I hope she stays in -- I'm having another girl.

Monday, for sure, but if she comes Sunday, I think I'm going to have to be at the hospital Sunday. So, I hope she stays in until after Sunday.”

The cornerback and wife Jackie have three children. One child, Tiana, had a heart transplant at a young age due to an enlarged heart and was kept alive by an external device until a donor heart was found.

Teammates seem all right with Tillman's decision.

"You take on the character of your leader and coach [Lovie] Smith," WR Brandon Marshall said. "Since Day One, in my own personal business he's always preached family first so whether I had to go out of town in OTAs to visit a family member or do something with family, it's no argument. It's take care of your family. We understand how things are run around here and it's a special group. Coach Smith is a special guy, definitely in how he runs thing. And like I said, you take on the character of your leader and that's what he preaches: family comes first."

I think gcoop is referring to the conception, not the birth.

Re: A chance Tillman might not play Sunday

This brings up a question in my mind. Don't get me wrong i have no problem with Peanut being at the birth of his daughter. Especially with the health history in his family.

The question is, what if this was a playoff game? Or a game against Green Bay that could determine if the Bears make the playoffs or not. And what if it was Jay who was taking the game off to be at the birth of his child? Would that be ok? I don't think it would with me.

Lets get real, guys miss the birth of their children all the time. My thoughts go first to my brothers in the Armed Forces. Lots of guys miss the event for much less important reasons.
I have got to say, if i was writing the checks, and paying you millions to play the game, i not sure i would be ok with you taking the day off unless you are physically unable to perform.

I think they should have the option.  Dock them the game check.  I think they should try to bring soldiers back whenever possible, too (without docking pay, soldiers aren't millionaires!).
Family should always come first.

We've all heard these stories before.  I thought usually, the player's wife is induced a few days early, such as Thursday......

Glad it's a home game.  Even if she does deliver Saturday or even Sunday morning he could still play the game if he chooses to do so.  If this game is in Texas there is no chance of that.

First and foremost is for Charles and Jackie to have a healthy baby girl!
