How stupid is NY?

Really? Limiting magazines to 7..........why?
Also, what makes a pistol grip or folding stock more dangerous?

Because giles, why would anyone "need" a magazine any larger, or a pistol grip, or a folding stock? This is how we decide whether or not things should be legal now.
IMO, Cuomo wants the talking point that he was the first governor to "do something" when it comes time to kiss up to the left and win a presidential primary. I could hear it in a commercial now.

Also, what makes a pistol grip or folding stock more dangerous? I tried explaining to Zito in another thread why anyone would need more than 7 rounds in a magazine. It went over his head, as it does a lot of liberals heads. You're not guaranteed to hit someone with all 7 rounds if you had to defend yourself. All the range time in the world can't prepare you for a moving target that's threatening you. Good example of this is what happened outside my work at the Law Enforcement Center on early Monday morning. At 3 a.m. a guy approached a city cop in a threatening manner and produced a weapon. The city cop and a county deputy ended up shooting and killing the guy, but they fired 24 shots. How many of those hit the guy...a grand total of 3. And these are people that are trained and shoot a lot more than the average citizen. But yeah, it's a great idea to limit mags to only 7.  Crump7- A supporter of cop killers

Along those lines, the whole point is supposedly to limit mass shootings, but a potential gunman could carry as many mags as he wanted, right? And who's to say he would carry legal magazines?
These laws do nothing, but hurt the people that follow the law.

what i have learned from this "debate" (and i use that in the most liberal of terms) is that the status quo is just fine and that laws are pointless and we should get rid of them

And I don't know who is saying we should get rid of the laws we already have...if anything we should focus on enforcing them and get tougher on criminals to give them a bigger disincentive to commit violent crimes in the first place. I'm so sick and tired of the crisis/fear-mongering that has led to piece after piece of **** legislation/gov't action lately. Can we not do that for once? Patriot Act, TARP, Iraq, the nonsensical "fiscal cliff" deal that our worthless leaders just passed...it seems like all we do is legislate out of overreaction, fear, and emotion.

Crime in NYC is down relative to what it has been in previous decades...just like places that have loosened gun laws and have more guns than ever before. I don't see why NYC should be representative of the country as a whole. It has had stricter gun laws than most of the rest of the country for 100 years. The macro trends are what they are. There are literally dozens of problems this country should be trying to solve before guns. Violent crime is going down without the "help" of bureaucrats.

Anyone think that police officers, secret servicemen, and other armed guards should have maximum 7 round magazines?
I mean, we're being told that's all that is needed for defense. If I only need 7 rounds to defend myself, why does Obama's bodyguard need more?
