Hey Obama, where's the Twinkie bailout?
It worked so well for the auto industry, why not bailout the Twinkie industry too? 18,500 jobs are going to go away... Come on now, you can't be saving one industry and letting another go bankrupt, that isn't fair now is it? http://blogs.ocweekly.com/stic...nkrupt_agai.php

Re: Hey Obama, where's the Twinkie bailout?
This is only the beginning.
It's going to get worse.
Unions are slowly destroying this country. Maybe that is his goal, to wreck all businesses and let the government run the country.
I rather have an 8% pay cut than a 100% pay cut plus if you are over 40 you are not hiring material with that skill-set unless you want to take even lower pay and getting a school loan, forget about it.
To be the man, you have to beat the man and so far I am undefeated.

If they made solar panels instead of saturated fat filled logs, they would probably get a bailout. I predict the dopey food police will save us from dopey economic policy...this time.

Let them fail. THey're a horribly ran company. Just like the Banks and GM should have failed, so should they. I'm fine with some government assistance but we can't prop up every stupid CEO in the country.

Though it is interesting how it's important to save some manufacturing jobs, but not others.

Would you bend over and take an 8% pay cut so your CEO could get a 300% raise and the other execs 100%+ raises? Or would you give them the finger and keep your dignity?

Do you have mouths to feed? Clothes to buy? A home to maintain? A car note to pay? Fu*k dignity. I would like to survive. 8% pay cut is a whole lot better than 100% and feed off of government scraps who are enjoying this, more on their welfare roll. RE: Hey Obama, where's the Twinkie bailout?
5000 workers of 18,500 striking, is not the end of the company. This is all a CEO power play. They are "scared" of a nationwide strike (probably people being upset about them being asket to take a pay cut while the people who're involved with costing the company money are making more money)
Again, there's a reason Tasty Kake, Little Debbie, etc. are doing just fine. Let the bad companies fall by the wayside, it's obvious the CEO and Board are just trying to cash in.

True, but the basic point is valid IMO, CEOs and upper management get an absolute free pass from many around here but those same people are usually the first to blast the unions. OK I'll say it, many, maybe even most unions are screwy, but why will some otherwise really smart people totally jump past any any possible fault of management to go straight for the jugular of all unions. Did you people not see the arse kicking the Repubs just got 2 out of the last 3 elections??? Regular working people, even union aholes don't just go away and die in poverty anymore, they see the excesses and BS of management and when those at the top make big money and bonuses (even if you can't get a RELIABLE story about them on a far right website) while asking workers to take lower wages AND give up their pensions that they signed up for in good faith (remember when the Wall Street aholes, several of which ruined otherwise good companies and certain people on here demanded that they get their bonuses, etc. even while accepting bailout money) and they say if there's money for you guys to buy private islands then there's enough money for us too. They're all sealing the fate of this nation. How many more elections will Repubs have to have their arses handed to them in before they actually wake the pfark up and see the whole truth, not just the Fox Business channel's version of the truth???

RE: Hey Obama, where's the Twinkie bailout?
Some people never fail at being able to twist it into some left and right bullshart.
Aerch, stated unions are slowly destroying this country. You can't honestly tell me it's the unions fault that the top men got gigantic raises in midst of bankruptcy, can you? You are really in line with that? I mean it's one thing to bend over and take it because you have mouths to feed...I can respect that. But defending it and saying it's the union and middle class workers fault is borderline insane. It's like if you kept wasting your money gambling and forced your kid to get a job to help pay bills. Why should someone else have to pay for your stupidity? This is how I imagine the top execs meeting probably went.
"Well fellas, were in the middle of a bankruptcy but I have a plan. Being the CEO, I am first going to more than triple my pay. Now now, before all of you get up in arms, I am also doubling the pay of everyone in this room. Everyone happy? Great LOL. Now the rest of my plan goes like this. We cut the pay and retirement of all the factory workers. That's it. See, if we cut all their pay, we get more money. You see if they make decent livings, we're able to be rich but we're not pointlessly filthy rich. It really works, I went to school for this, trust me. What happens if they strike you ask? Well we release to the media that were going to have to close our doors. That will get everyone hating the union and on our side. As soon as people hear union, they think it's the unions fault and completely ignore our ridiculous unnecessary raises. The best part is once people find out about our bad business practices, half of them will be on our side anyway LOL. For some reason, they think we're on their side because we've tricked them into thinking that LMAO. Anyway fellas, if worse comes to worse, we sell whatever scraps of the company remain and ride off into the sunset never having to worry about money again."

Well no matter who's most at fault, 18,000 people have lost their jobs.

RE: Hey Obama, where's the Twinkie bailout?
Obama should give gifts to anyone signing a petition to seceded - a bus ticket to Mexico and a pack of Twinkies.
