No, unless he loses a couple of hundred of pounds.

Re: Anyone think Chris Christie will win in 2016?
He does need to lose weight for his health's sake but I could see him starting now and picking a good VP choice like Rubio and getting the jump on 2016. Who are the Dems gonna run, Biden???

RE: Anyone think Chris Christie will win in 2016?
Republicans practically begged CC to run this year. I don't think he really wants the job.
Marco Rubio might..

RE: Anyone think Chris Christie will win in 2016?
Depends on what he wants. I don't think he wants to be a loser so my hunch is he won't run. I think he'll carve out his niche as a pundit and make a lot of money that way. I could see him wanting to be a justice down the road. Not US mind you but NJ

RE: Anyone think Chris Christie will win in 2016?
Christie will run. The republican machine is going to throw out everyone in 2016. Christie, Jindal, Rubio, Bush, Paul for sure. Maybe Hucabee and Perry again.

Question is did he not want the job or did he not think he could win? It might have been the latter.

RE: Anyone think Chris Christie will win in 2016?
The prevailing wisdom among politicians (can't believe I used all those words together!!!) is that you don't want to run against an incumbent, even a not very good one, because it's just harder to beat them than you would think, even if they deserve it because they did a lousy job. If CC or anyone else for that matter runs against Hillary or anyone else the Dems put out there in 2016 they're all starting from basically the same point and therefore they all should have the same basic chance to win or lose based on how they campaign, debate, etc.
I really think a CC/Rubio ticket would do well. Did anyone catch on O'Reilly last night the numbers from Hispanic voters?? I knew it would be pretty big but it was way higher than I had thought it would be, they need Rubio on the ticket in 2016 to have a chance to reverse that Hispanics love them some Dems trend.

Interesting that Cubans are the most like R's maybe because they know better than us all what it is like to not live free? You have a point but while they might not like a Cuban as much as someone from their own specific country/heritage, etc. I think they would like him better than someone whiter than Greg Maddux.

I bet Hispanics would like Gary Johnson "I have never been supportive of the wall," I answered. "A 10-foot wall just requires an 11-foot ladder." - There should be a two-year grace period for illegal immigrants to attain work visas so they can continue contributing to America and begin taking part in American society openly.
Because of our convoluted immigration policies we're educating the best and brightest kids from all over the world and we're sending them back to their countries of origin. Instead of them staying here to start up businesses that will employ tens of millions of Americans they go home and employ tens of millions of Indians. We're doing that to ourselves. We should make it as easy as possible to be able to get a legal work visa--not citizenship, not a green card. Just a work visa, with a background check and a social security card so that applicable taxes would get paid. And then legalize marijuana. 75% of the border violence with Mexico would go away. Q: What is your view of the immigration issue? A: Hispanics who immigrate care about their families like other Americans care about their families. They're living in poverty in Mexico and can come to the US and do a lot better. Q: By--according to some--taking away jobs. A: They work the lowest-paying jobs. And they are taking jobs that other Americans don't necessarily want. They're hardworking people who are taking jobs that others don't want. That's the reality. Q: Would you open the borders and make it easier to immigrate legally? A: My vision of the border with Mexico is that a truck from the United States going into Mexico and a truck coming from Mexico into the United States will pass each other at the border going 60 miles an hour. Yes, we should have open borders. Q: Many Americans fear the flood of immigrants that would follow. A: They would become taxpayers. They're just pursuing dreams---the same dreams we all have. They work hard. What's wrong with that? Seems to me the republicans had someone who could appeal to hispanics quite easy and he barely got one word in at the debates.

I have a hunch though I'm not Cuban, that a healthy amount of that has to do with most people who left Cuba being against Castro in the first place, probably were conservative. Also I imagine Bay of Pigs made them dislike JFK a ton and soured their take on the Dems.

What would you think of some sort of anschluss with Mexico, creating about 5 new states out of old Mexico and making them a sweet deal to just join the US?

Matt K. Lewis @ mattklewis A source familiar with "Huntsman world" emails to tell me Jon Huntsman will be the best option to face Clinton or whoever the Dems put up.

I don't think Romneys religion was an issue -- Methinks America has grown past religious bias in electoral politics. Certainly there are pockets of Redneckistan that still hold a prejudice -- but not against Mormons. I think if Huntsman would have a problem it would be in (R) primary season where (in 2012 world) he is too sensible. Indications are that will change ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????

Re: Anyone think Chris Christie will win in 2016?
Rubio is headed to Iowa already. He's in. But Gatom has a point about him -- this will sound racist, but he is too "white" being Cuban. But maybe a Rubio/Martinez ticket would work better.
Who knows what is going to happen to the Rs over the next 2 years. But should they remain something of the coalition they are at present, then Christie possibly gets hurt by his bromance with Obama moment. Shouldn't. But could.

Oh and Christie and Rubio not being the VP pick is likely because they read the tea leaves pretty well. And I wouldn't be surprised that Christie just put a bit of icing on the cake in the last couple of weeks.

And no I don't think that people have grown past that. There's still only ever been one non-protestant president ever. Try to run an atheist out there, see if they get elected, I'd bet a thousand dollars they don't even come in top 3 in their primary. Mormon's are tough to ignore for Rs because of the money they have.
