The O's are in a situation where they are gonna either have to waive or trade Pie or Salazar by Thursday. Why not offer them Jeffery Franchise for Pie. They may need a RH hitting DH type. In a platoon only facing lefites, he's not the worst player in the league.

I agree with much of the above analysis. I doubt that I have seen many major league players with worse mechanics in the box than Jeff. He really needs a great hitting coach, but it appears that we do not have one that he will listen to.

Fire Pendleton on the off-chance that someone else can get Frenchy back on track (as in, an out-machine who at least hits for some power)? I'm no fan of TP, but that would absolutely be the wrong move (not per se, but for the reasoning given). This was supposed to be the year that Francoeur had to deliver. That's what was said last season. How many more "wait and see" years do we give him before finally placing the blame where it belongs?
Hell yes fire Pendleton, not just because someone new could help Frenchy, but help the WHOLE team. They all have problems. As for Frenchy I don't know if a new Hitting Coach would help or not. I mean we all had alot of hope for this year, and coming out of Spring Training things looked to be headed in at least a better direction. But now we see he is right back in the same funk, albeit with some really good at bats and an increase in walks; but they don't seem to carry over consistently. What is the one constant TP. What is the one constant with this teams hitters? Hack away; usually at the first pitch. It's not just Francouer that has a bad approach it is everybody. When Frenchy got to Spring Training after working with Jaramillo he seemed to have a plan and was following that plan. Now we are into the season and TP's feelings are hurt because Jeff went outside the organization for help, and it seemed to help. Now there is no Jaramillo to give tips and reminders just a bitter ex-mvp, who for some reason can't seem to communicate very well to any of the struggling hitters on this team. I really think that with Frenchy someone needs to be in his ear every at bat about what the situation is and what he needs to be looking to do If he is leading off he needs to be patient get on base anyway he can; man on third less than 2 outs put the ball in play to the right side preferably and in the air, etc... Do this enough and 1 of two thing are going to happen, he either gets with the program and realizes what he needs to do when presented with certain situations or he gets pissed off and says something stupid to either the coach or Bobby and gets himself a one-way ticket out of here. Sorry for the long post but this teams offense is getting down right depressing, and something needs to be done. Firing Pendleton might be the best way to go.

PS - I know Bobby Cox won't fire Pendleton; but we can all dream.

Not doubting you, but where did you find this quote?  At any rate, wow, it would be interesting to get Jeff's insights on what is an important statistic.  I guess he will point to the final score.  Well in that regard he loses too because the team is under .500 with him.  So he is part to blame there.

He's got the worst attitude of anyone on the team and that includes Yunel, b/c he only cares about himself. I dont give a rats ass if he's upset that he isn't playing. He should be upset at himself for regressing, not at Bobby Cox for playing the better player.

He needs to be in AAA, but the organization wont do it b/c they're scared of the temper tantrum he'll throw in the newspaper, which undoubtedly he will do. He's been catered his entire life and it's probably tough for him to realize that his way isnt the right way.

Frenchy is a sad sad story. I never would have guessed this. Has all the talent but no brain it seems.

Re: Macon Telegraph: Braves in a quandary with Francoeur

Cut the bum, simple as that. No point sending him down. Honestly, given how things have gone over the last 1.5 seasons, what could his ceiling possibly be at this point? A .700 OPS slow corner outfielder that can occassionally throw a guy out at home? There are probably hundreds of baseball players around the world that could be just as (un)productive for a fraction of the cost. He's a sunk cost and the only cure is to part ways. This is an Atlanta Braves message board, not the Jeff Francoeur Fanclub. If he can't produce and doesn't have the right attitude, what are we keeping him around for? I feel bad for the team, as they must all see dread seeing his name in the lineup every day.

You're right, he's way worse than Vinny Castilla. And Mondesi. And Brian Jordan, Rd. 2. I like to refer to him as the FPSVOD (First Pitch Swinging Vortex of Doom).

Enjoyed reading much of this ;-)

If it were up to me I'd send him to AAA. Just as soon take a final chance at straightening him out, baseball wise and attitude wise, as give him away.

Spilled milk department: I don't believe I advocated his outright release (or trade) after his '08 season but definitely said we needed to have him compete for the '09 RF position. Oh well.

Wow! Captain obvious with another "breaking" news story. Who is the guy that writes these articles, and why is Macon still a week behind the world?

Maybe the scoreboard at the new Shea doesn't have OBP. Guess I was premature.
