Re: GDT: 7/27/08, Braves at Phils

Besides a few bad games and a mediocre average, I think Tex did all he could, too bad besides Chipper and Mccann we have nothing else around him. A shame

Can we wait to see what we get back for Teix?  I mean the early return on Devall are nice so there is a positive for the future.  If we found a way to get Youklis/Masterson for Teix/Ohman then I think I would be happy with the deal.

I love Tex... and I was hoping against hope that there would be someway we could keep him... BUT... I think we all know what needs to happen now.  Especially with Mccann likely missing time.

This season is a write off.  Let's try and re-acquire some young assets for Tex after losing 5 pretty good ones.  Ohman should be dealt also.

Time to look at next year.

Thats irrelevant  to the question  though. What we get for Tex isnt connected to what we payed.

The value however still remains even after Teixiera is gone because that value was acquired by using him which in turn was the return from our trade with Teix.

I used to bark about James when he would fritter away an early lead, so I can't give Reyes special treatment here.  When you're up 5-0, shut the friggin' door on the other guys.

Didn't see the game, but from the Gameday feed, Francoeur's AB against Lidge looked to be a good one.

I'm sorry, but I need to know why Reyes' leash is longer then Davies or James?

Bobby seems content to keep marching him out there more then the other 2.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wren waited until Thursday to make a deal.

Stuff, I would guess. Bobby's always had more patience w/ LHP than RHP, and he throws harder than James, so I guess he's the winner. I thought JoJo had turned a corner, and he still shows flashes, but I wonder if he needs some work on mechanics. There's no excuse for not being able to locate a fastball at hthis level........

What that Bobby is showing that he has a longer leash for Reyes then he had for Davies or James? James less then Davies. I mean there were times Davies would get into a jam and Bobby would just go to the pen. He doesn't do that nearly as often with Reyes. Anyone can see that.

I'm not disagreeing with you that it's unfair, I'm just trying to provide an explanation. I think there were times when he gave up on Davies, and he's trying not to do that with Reyes. I still think the guy has middle-rotation stuff, but he's got some mental issues right now.....

I misinterpreted what you were getting at.

I retract my previous comments.

Re: GDT: 7/27/08, Braves at Phils

All I know is we better get some damn talent when we trade Tex. If not, make it a priority to resign him. As for these past two days, well it's sickening, but hardly unexpected. The 2008 Braves have no killer instinct, no confidence and no sense of urgency. They scored 27 runs in this series and lost it. Inexcusable. And there is no accountability. It's always an excuse. Too many injuries. Okay, yeah we've got some hurt players, but eventually you need some resiliency. Umpires get blamed a lot. And let's not forget the people blaming the short ballpark in Philadelphia. The bottom line is this team will continue to play this way until some big changes are made, starting at the top.

Didn't James pitched like a couple years and Davies pitch a year and a half? Reyes has pitched about a year? Reyes has been much better than Davies as well. Reyes is a guy we need to be patient on to see what he's got. His peripherals are decent.

Wasn't a bad slide by Victorino. Just an unfortuante play. Bad slide by Utley earlier. I wish we would have sent a little message though.

Complaining about the pitchers? It's tough on the pen when your starter goes an inning.

I missed the part of the game where Tex was taken out. What was the reasoning for that? Was it situational?

Except now were dealing a current Atlanta Brave no different than if we dealt Franceour or Jones.  You dont make a deal considering you could deal him later. You make a deal thinking what you will get now.

We were supposed to what was it Get Tex to reach  "two post seasons "or something of that notion.

To me its seperate deals

This team needs a fight. A good old fashioned bench clearing brawl. A team to hate. I remember a game with the Dodgers way way back when. I think Pascual was involved...

They have no passion or emotion kinda like the sheep dogs in the Fog Horn Leghorn cartoons. Just punching a clock.
