I never thought this would happen to me. I hated golf growing up. I am now 29 and started playing this past summer and I can't get enough.

Does the itch ever go away?

Golf is boring but moderately entertaining to play

Its not thrilling to watch on TV for sure but I enjoy it somewhat. I could play 36 holes straight on a 55 degree sunny day. Nothing feels better then hitting a tee shot 250+ on the fairway or a 20+ foot putt.

For a lot of people, no. It waxes and wanes for me...I'm playing like crap now so it kinda dampens the itch. :). But when you hit that one great shot....it all comes back.

Great thing abut golf is its one of the few sports you can play and enjoy well into your elder age. My parents still play and they're in their 70s.

You think white people are the only ones that play golf?

Every course I have been to is primarily occupied by Asians. It is in no way primarily a white sport in NY.

Not even close for me, golf is like baseball without the moving aspect, either from the ball or from the player.

Golf is awesome. Didn't get to go out as much as I wanted to this past summer though. I am terrible, but it's a blast to play.

All my Korean friends ******* love Golf.

But it does seem to be mostly Koreans, Japanese, and white people though.

I'd like to play some day, when I can't play basketball anymore. Until then I'll use my time to play sports that I get some cardio from.

I do my cardio at the gym. Golf is by far the most fun sport I have ever played. Nothing better then being on the course on a beautiful day.

Eh, I just have too much to do to try and pick up Golf now. When I'm older (26 now) and my knees are shot, I'm sure I'll pick it up like most men do.

Playing baseball on a sunny day, football in the snow, soccer in the rain, volleyball on the beach, those are all my preferences.

I used to play 36 holes before lunch, then another 36 after and when my dad got off work we'd play 9 in a cart.  Never knew how good I had it at the time. 

Mike is right - it's all about that one perfect shot that hooks you.  There's something almost magical about it.  Mark Twain said golf is a good walk spoiled, iirc, but I know why he said that.  He didn't hit a good shot.  One lucky hit in the sweet spot flying right at his target would've changed his experience completely. 

Golf in Japan IS boring.  Nobody will trash talk or make friendly bets, they stop and eat lunch after 9 holes and there are practically no amateur tournaments worth the time and money.  But the courses are immaculate and the club houses are like 4 star hotels.

Usually yes, but those are all more perfect. Unfortunately you need teams for all those sports to be really fun, at least 4 people except if you want to do batting practice for baseball. I do do snow football every year in NJ when we have the right amount of snow.
