Do we need a Justin Upton appreciation thread?

.293/25/82 after last night. It seems that some of the negative attention that his brother draws daily has rubbed off a little on Justin, who has had the best year of any of our hitters by a long stretch, and in all honesty, a very fine year by any measure.

There has been a lot of talk that Justin may get traded this winter. If he does, he does, but he has certainly done his part to keep the Braves relevant in 2014.

Upton will earn $14,708,000 in 2015....the last year of his contract. The Braves will not be able to match or beat free agent offers from other teams. The offers will be heavy because he is having a very good year.

Braves can do two things. They can let him play out his contract and make him a qualifying offer after the 2015 season to get the pick or they can trade him in the 2014 offseason to get greater value than just a draft pick.

Justin is playing like the big boys and his agent will demand big boy money.

He will have to be traded, I would think, and then where will we be?

During the great Braves run of 14 years the roster turned over every year. At least 10 new players were added each and every year to replace the 10 or so that went elsewhere.

There are trades to be made and there is always someone in the minors. I'm not suggesting the team will find replacement numbers. My tissue bill will be low if Peraza was the roster replacement and he provided a new and different element to the team.
