Get A Fork

Get A Fork

This team is done. They are unbelievably bad. No heart and no leadership. (Including our sorry excuse for manager). Sad truth is that they are done for a while. Not sure when this team will ever be good again. At least last year this team had Huddy and McCann to direct traffic. Now they are just bad. I'd fire Fredi today. He wouldn't even go to Seattle.
I honestly can't believe this team is this bad. But they are. The sad part is that in 06-08 I still had hope. They had Bobby and Chipper. Now we've got nothing.

Keep blaming Fredi. Everyone stops at him but Frank Wren has put this team behind the 8 ball for the next 4 years.

Another tough loss in San Diego.  Now 0 - 6 going into the last two in Seattle.  The division is not out of reach yet, but another two weeks of this and its season over the end of  September.  Hats off to Hayward on offense today but it takes runs to win games.  Gonzales was right about one thing, you don't score runs and every mistake is big.  Who taught Gattis base running?  He should be watching the 3rd base coach and not worry about a long ball that was not going to be caught.  This isn't the first base running screw up by him.  Missed opportunity that could have made the difference.  The team better find their offense fast and kept it going.

IIRC Fredi and Wren are both on 1 year contracts that were signed rather late in the off season.  Then John Hart was hired as an advisor to Schuerholz.

Hart is known as an offense first GM.

If there is any silver lining to this losing streak it is that we are building trade chips (valuable ones too IMO).

In the back of my mind I have this feeling that 2017 is more important to the front office than 2014 is.

I think this team is done too. I see no reason how they can make a run. There are 50 games left, and that's a lot of baseball. But I just don't have confidence in this team. Why should we?

41-47 since the 17-7 start. That is awful.

6-11 since the All-Star Break.

This is what gets managers (and general managers) fired.

When a mid-season call up who is in his what, 3rd season of pro ball (La Stella) is probably your best option to lead off then you are in trouble, and this team is so far past being trouble offensively that it's not funny.

Yeah, this team is just plain bad. Poorly constructed, IMO. I have never seen such a collection of free swingers, poor hitters, on one team. Chipper must be rolling his eyes watching these guys try to hit. I mean how many bad at bats can one team put together in a single game.

Also, I am no fan of Fredi but when is Wren going to be held responsible for this mess. First Lowe and then Uggla and now BJ Upton. How many bad Free Agent deals do the Braves, a team with a limited Payroll, have to try to overcome before this guy gets sent packing? He's hurt the Braves for years with bad contracts that we are still paying for.

And don't get me started on BJ. I'm at this point now with BJ that all of his little mannerisms really piss me off. I'm sick of watching him strike out and then look at the umpire or shake his head as he walks back to the dug-out. I'm sick of watching him take a little stroll looking up in the sky after he flails and misses again. I'm just sick of him.

Braves will need to go 37-13 the rest of the regular season to win 95 games. Since they were 17-7 they are on a pace to win 83 games. The reality is it will take each and every player and pitcher to begin having a career year the rest of the way if the team wants in the postseason.

Chances of being in playoffs are very slim this year. So the team can play out the season or make a blockbuster waiver trade or callup some of the future players to get a head start on their career. One thing is for certain. BJ has lost his skills. They need to quit force feeding him into the Leadoff spot. Someone in the organization must pronounce the patient dead.

Either make some wholesale changes to salvage the season now or admit the obvious and start planning for next year.
