0-4 So Far in Western Road Trip

0-4 So Far in Western Road Trip

After coming off a lackluster home stand, the Braves went 0-3 with the Dodgers, then kicked off their series with the Padres with an embarrassing start.  Since the All Star Break, something left the building.  You can't win when only one or two guys are carrying the offensive every night.  Freeman is once again a hole in the lineup; striking out and never coming through with men on.  With the exception of Wood's great start in LA this week, pitching has been a serious problem.

On offense, you will not win games without putting the lead off man on at least 3 or 4 innings a game.  With men in scoring position, the top of the lineup chokes.  I don't know what to say at this point.  Gonzales can't leave a pitcher who doesn't have his "stuff" in the game through 6 innings.  Limit the damage and don't dig yourself a hole coach.

By the end of August I see the Braves 5 1/2 games out of first unless the players begin playing like they want to win.

Four runs in the last three of those games. The Braves need some hitting so bad, but with the hand dealt him I am not sure what Mr. Wren could have done to 'fix' that this year. And next year? I don't see it being better next year with is paying so much for guys not playing (surely B.J. Upton is not going to either keep playing the way he has for two years, or be on the team next year?).

It's not been a great year so far, but I do see it getting worse instead of better.

Russell and Bonifacio were bandaids for the braves crippled offense. It will be enough to get through to the end of the season. In order to get into the playoffs the team will need a transfusion of offensive talent and a shutdown star acting pitcher.

The team as currently constructed are a very talented group that just doesn't play well together as a unit. If anyone could bottle an answer as to why they don't mesh........ they would be wealthy beyond reason. I'll slink back into lurking now.

0-6 with only 13 runs scored so far.

Awful.

iirc four one-run losses in very low scoring games. This team does just not show the fire it takes to be more than mediocre. Except for BJ everyone is playing and hitting more or less 'o.k.', but they are not putting hits together and as I said in another thread, a team that hits .260, and can't run and has no power, is most likely not going anywhere.
