Just a thought

Would you do a Craig Kimbrel for Jake Peavy deal if Boston agreed to pay more than half of what's left on Peavy's deal and maybe a top 15 prospect from Boston just to sweeten the deal.

No. I may be unrealistic about the money, but I would ride Kimbrel for every save that we can while he is here. I wouldn't trade him for almost any pitcher out there.

RE: Just a thought

no. Peavy is clearly on the downside of his career and was not effective in the post season for the Sox.

Re: Just a thought

How many Word series have the Braves won with Craig Kimbrel as their closer? Is a shut down closer getting the Braves that much closer to the championship? Granted Peavy may not be the answer but a starting pitcher with experience and can start Game 1 of a playoff game is more important then I guy that pitches to get 3 outs at the end of the game. Trade Kimbrel while the value is high and he is still controllable.

Step 1: Think of the actual good pitchers with long-term upside you could get for Kimbrel, despite the fungibility of relievers.
Step 2: Suggest a trade for a pitcher who's got neither thing going for him (Jake Peavy).
Step 3: ????
Step 4: PROFIT!

RE: Just a thought

I agree that Kimbrel need to be moved. His trade value is as high as it is going to get. It's time to cash this chip in. But no, I would not trade him for Peavy. If we were the Yankees, I would say get a deal done. It sucks that Frank Wren spends our contract money on Uggla and Upton. Now we lose BMac and Huddy cause we don't have the money to keep them.
