Remember Wren can probably dig into that tv money for next year so I think Hamilton is in play.

Getting Walden was a shrewd move that I think is a pre-curser to trading Kimbrel.

Wren can probably get anyone he wants for Kimbrel outside of some obvious guys.

Kimbrel for Myers + a pitching prospect.

Kimbrel is an elite, established closer. So if you're going to trade him, you trade him for an elite player who has established himself, not a prospect.

With aroun 14 million to spend and money from the new tv revenue comin in next year I could see Hamilton being n play. Bc his suitors aren't very big. And the money he's askin for ain't happening. From anybody. That's why Texas has been linked to other outfielders so far. But trading Kimbrel would really really ****. Seeing him come out for the 9th is a pretty great feeling bc u know it's pretty much over. We'll see what happens but I hope we keep him. Stanton an Myers would b the only 2 I trade him for unless somebody blew us away.

Kimbrel is not going anywhere.

Then you better extend him now because it makes no sense for the Braves to have a 10+ million dollar closer unless their payroll goes up to 120.

I agree he's gonna get expensive quick. Especially if he repeats this season.

Unless Dayton's found some special pixie dust that will suddenly turn Kimbrel into a # 1 SP, that ain't happening.

The Royals are only listening on Myers/Gordon for a top of the rotation guy. Shields or Lester fit that, not Kimbrel.

Their current Closer is a 12.2 K/9 guy and they could still re-sign Soria if they decided not to keep Holland in the role.

What I'd want is a trade for Wil Myers, give them who they want, except for Kimbrel. IMO, Kimbrel is untouchable. What I think will happen? We'll sign Victorino, which I'm praying doesn't happen.

I predict his next move will be to claim David Carpenter off waivers... Gut feeling I've had for a while

Just playing Devil's advocate, if Andrew Bailey was able to fetch Josh Reddick, what would Kimbrel be worth?

Ok,

I know Kimbrel is only a closer and all...  But doesn anybody else think that he makes the game that much more fun to watch?!?  I mean, I love it when he comes in, anticipating him to strike out the side...  idk, he makes the game more fun to me when he's in...

I'd hate to see him go because he provides an electric entertainment value.

We are a bench piece or two and one more big bat in LF (or 3B) away from possibly having a very dangerous team.  I'm not interested in breaking up core pieces.  We can easily fill our needs without having to trade our best players.

The Kimbrel question, long-term, is not an easy one.  Barring injuries or other unforeseeable developments, the guy could end up, statistically, having the best closer/reliever career of all time; allowing that career to occur primarily in a non-Atlanta uniform is a tough eventuality to swallow, but the obverse is there's not much doubt he'll earn a contract that'll swallow up an appreciable percentage of the Braves' budget.

But we're talking about a closer.  Aside from Rivera, Hoffman, and maybe a few others, those "injuries or other unforeseeable developments" have happened to every closer.  It's to the point where we should assume any closer will break down within a few years.  If you can get a large return on a closer, it's a safe bet to take the trade.

Best closer in the league or not, hes still a closer and his value isnt really that high. Certainly not enough for a straight up trade for myers.
