Depends on cost for me. 3/18 is the max I'd go for him.

This shouldn't be a surprise, afterall, Ross did turn down a 2-year contract offer from the Braves last year, and he does have a history with Fredi Gonzalez, wouldn't surprise me at all if he signed.

If he signs here, it will basically be a Ross for Ross trade.

We have been rumored or linked to this guy for like three seasons. No thanks though.

RE: Source: Braves Interested In Free Agent Cody Ross
Anyone see his home-road splits last year? 921 OPS at home, 684 on the road. So if he was facing a lefty at home he was basically the best player in baseball. A righty on the road, not so much. I don't know about him as an every-day solution. He strikes out a ton (129 in 476 AB) and is pretty mediocre against righties, ie, 3/4 of the time. Is he the kind of bat the Braves want to go after?
Then again, let me play devil's advocate with myself... against lefties he's basically your cleanup hitter. Against righties he hits 7, and plays good defense in both situations. Given that some of the better lefties are in the East, it is probably worth having a ringer on the roster. Moreover, a guy like Ross helps balance out Atlanta's lefty-heavy lineup with McCann, Heyward and Freeman. When facing a righty, those three should provide enough to have Atlanta be average or better thus you don't need Ross to step up. When facing a lefty, Ross immediately becomes a great option.
Nevermind, I'm sold. In fact, I'd be good with 3/21. Ross would diversify the lineup and add a serious plus to counteract the weakness that is inherent in the lineup.

Re: Source: Braves Interested In Free Agent Cody Ross
Ross makes sense at the right price/years with our struggles vs LHP. He is a useful; player that can all 3 spots in the OF.
He crushes LHP- 1.010OPS last year and .928 career.
Again, he makes sense at the RIGHT price.
I would have liked to have Bonafacio from the Marlins if he was on the block.
AKA, Cokeman

RE: Source: Braves Interested In Free Agent Cody Ross
Price is the key.
What I'd do is take Rasmus off of Toronto's hands and platoon him and Ross in LF if we can get them at a combined 12 Million. That's a high price I know but since we'll likely be going bargain in CF with Victorino I want as good of a LF as we can get and Splitting time between Rasmus and Ross would be ideal.

Rather have a platoon than a flawed player play 100% of the games. We're not the Yankees we can't afford stars at every position.

Every player is flawed.
I like Ross but would not want him to be my 1st choice. The braves need to get a CFer fist and quickly then go from there.

And I would really rather over spend (a little) on Scott Hariston then Cody Ross.

If we use the Torii Hunter example, he would be let's say an .800 OPS guy, if for less money I could get you an .800 OPS LF who's better in the field, why wouldn't you go with that? The key is only having one platoon.
