Oprah's oops?

Oprah's oops?

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

The quote that sticks out to me...

But Winfrey, a longtime and outspoken supporter of Sen. Barack Obama, is flat-out denying the report. “At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates,” Winfrey wrote in the statement. “I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Huh?  "....after the campaign is over."

If I were Palin, I'd tell Oprah to take a flying leap!

What a stoopid comment!

It is simple UA. Oprah doesn't want in any way to give a platform to a person who is exactly opposite on issues than she is.Her show, her investment, her ratings to pay the price.

Sarah can go on Bill OReilly or Rush who honors women by calling Sarah a "babe"

Just her celebrity, influence, and magazine (from what I can dig up so far).  Stay classy Oprah.

Sand,

Oprah makes a stoopid comment by saying she won't use her show as a "platform for any of the candidates", yet she has Obama and Michelle on, then she refuses to have Palin on..."after the campaign is over". I understand what you're saying, but to say basically,...I'm going to support a candidate but not use my show as a platform...is idiotic.

I didn't she her show with Obama on it, but if they discussed anything BUT politics...then I stand corrected. Otherwise...don't try to fool me.

Obama was on Opera in 2006 discussing the Audacity of Hope.

the more I here about Obama the more I think he is little more than an infomercial that was built by the strong Chicago area dem party.  He is there robot and stoog.

Ah...got it.

Then Palin should go on her show to discuss the Credibility of Sensationalism.

Sounds about right to me.  Plus, I didn't know Obama was a fan of the "Opera".

Re: Oprah's oops?

Any media outlet driven by viewers and numbers are likely clamoring to get an interview with Palin.  Oprah has ever right to select who will appear within her media empire.  As I see it by not offering an interview to Palin the general public will come to see the bias of her opinions with no regard for allowing viewers to make up there own minds.  After all she could then dissect the interview to fit her intentions of seeing Obama elected.  Thus in short I feel her decision will only help the McCain / Palin ticket.  This opinion is worth about $0.01 which given current  inflation is basically worthless.

Go Aggies!!!

The Audacity of Hope... you know, the book where he said "I will stand with the Muslims in case the political winds shift in a ugly direction"

My only feeling about superstition is that it's unlucky to be behind at the end of the game.

Re: Oprah's oops?

Actually UA authors go on Oprah to hawk their books.Dont have to be a fan to promote your book. Opera hasn't had Hillary, Sandra day Oconner , Nancy Pelosi etc. She doesnt have candidates on her show. This is a right wing kick up. They are good at it.

Good points Sand.

Even so, it just doesn't look good, you know?  That's why I noted this story as it makes her look bad or wishy-washy.
