an FYI Deonte Burton is down to three schools, Cinci, UCLA and Nevada.
Geoffery Allen signed with Eastern Washington
Do you know how you got your in at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas? Is it through Reggie?
They are not receptive to Nevada Recruiting their players.

I thought he had crossed the Bruins off his list.
He would be a great get for the Pack, but you guys already have an embarrassment of riches over the last two recruiting classes.

I was hoping we were going to sign, Creighton landed Jahenns Manigat out of Ottawa, Canada Monday. As a 6'2 point guard, the Jays have found a player that adds depth to their backcourt and as we learned, has a burning desire to win. |

According to rivals.com, Jonathan Simmons committed to Houston. NMSU has a lot of verbals. Hopefully Menzies will announce something official soon. Nephawe signed in Novermber. And, Kabongo and Dixon are probably sure things considering just about every recruiting website (and the LCSN) have named them Aggies. However, I am still wondering about Mensa and Giaimo. Additionally, I am curious if there are any other prospects that Menzies is working on like Chris Cantino. |

I am wondering if anything has changed with Cantino since Dixon's verbal? Cantino is an impressive ball handler for 6'7"; in the video I have seen. He could possibly be a good point forward. He didn't seem to be much of a perimeter shooter but he is definitely a scorer.

Well, if it isn't Kofi Mensa then Menzies still needs to find another a guard. Maybe Tyrone Watson can be converted into a two guard with some off-season work. Watson is a solid ball handler and is strong going to the basket but his perimeter game needs a lot of work.
One thing for sure, without Gibson and Young, NMSU will not look the same offensively next season. We no longer have the great perimeter shooting guards to support last season's style.

Menzies should start recruiting Brady Heslip who Utah State and Boise State are recruiting. Heslip played for the same AAU team that Kabongo and Dixon played for. If Mensa isn't sure he is coming to NMSU. Menzies might as well look at this other Canadian.

Thanks for the recent (5/31) update, Pistol. A couple questions for you.
1.) I thought Renaldo Dixon was in the "signed" camp, but likely to redshirt this year while academics were put in order. You have him as a verbal. Any new info on that, or did I miss something?
2.) Any info on the Markee Mazyck kid?

I have no more info than you do. I suspect Dixon will go the same route as Rahman...walk-on redshirt his first year while he is being by the clearinghouse then get a scholarship in 2011-12.  As for Mazyck, according to one of the recruiting websites (i95Ballerz.com I recollect), he was being recruited NMSU nearly a year ago. I suspect now that Chris Pompey is gone, all ties NMSU had to the DC/Baltimore area have probably been severed. |

Keep an eye on 6'2", PG, Terrel de Rouen (Onate HS). He plays for NM Force and he is a definite mid-major player. He has several mid-major division 1 offers after his stellar play in July.
6'4", SG, Emery Coleman (Tularosa HS) is also one to watch after his play with NM Force this past summer. He's receiving division 1 interest as well.

I would love to see us recurit more BB players from out of USA. That way they understand if they don't keep up their grades and have any behavior problems they could/will get shipped out of the Country ! Not a bad motivator.
