Kudos to the Students tonite!!!

The student section was amazing tonite!  Student section on both side filled.  They were loud the whole game and having fun.  Pan Am has not been as lively as it was tonite in a long time.  Good job!!!

Loved it!  The atmosphere was amazing thanks to the students.  Just got to get the community now out to fill all those empty seats on the sides!

I was going to ask.  Do you think the 9:00 start actually helped students to attend the game?

The official attendance was 6,394. Not bad for a 9pm start on a work night. Hopefully the Students and LC community are starting to slowly warm up to Menzies' team...7 in a row and counting.

The fan base, knowing this was a big game, responded.

Good job!

Re: Kudos to the Students tonite!!!

The big head posters looked good, and the crowd could really be heard on TV (I'm in Albuquerque)_every single chant. It was nice to see a decent crowd. It's crazy how we consider 6,000 in attendance as "responding" nowadays.

Nice job by the students last night!

The only problem... Denver only went to the FT line once in the 2nd half.. Aggies were playing so good!  We only got to see your poster for a little while.  LOL.

Yes, under the original capacity (13,333), the 6,394 would have meant the Pan Am was 48% full.  Under the "trash bag" configuration (8,994 capacity), the Pan Am was at 72% of capacity.

Meanwhile in Albuquerque, 15,411 were in the Pit to watch UNM beat Colorado State.

Speaking of percentages

6.4 % of Las Cruces attended last nights Aggie game.

2.9 % of Albuquerque showed up to watch the Lobos.

The new capacity of the PAC after the renovation is 12,482. Hopefully, I will see a crowd near that capacity again someday. Unfortunately, I will not see those stupid trash bags coming off until Boston finally leaves NMSU and we get a forward thinking AD.

True, but how many were left outside wanting to get in?

RE: Kudos to the Students tonite!!!

1,500 students the estimate for the game Wednesday night versus Denver. In big games of days of yore (UNM, UNLV) there would be 4,000 students. Times have changed.

Whats the point? If the pitt sat 30,000 they would never fill it. They would never 6% of their population to a regular season home. I was one of the students that would stand in line outside the Pan Am 3 hours before a game to get a front row seat under the south basket in the late 80's and early 90's.  I want those days back as much as anyone else, but I am realistic and know that its not as easy to get the students to the game......for many reasons. As I mentioned on this board before, student attendance is down even at Duke basketball games. We live in one of the poorest countys in the United States, there are some that just cant afford it even if the ga tickets were only six bucks. Yes, some people are still in love with Theus and wouldnt go to a Aggie game if we were 20-0......Reggie was Las Cruces version of the Los Angeles Lakers and people went just to see Reggie. At the end of the day you either want to support the program and help it grow or you dont. I am on the train, for better or worse. Football and Basketball. Go Aggies.
