OT: USC Players Dissing El Paso

Seems USC and its players are not real happy to be in El Paso's Sun Bowl:

They should have played harder and they would have had a better season.

Let's face it, the Sun Bowl is not exactly located in a beautiful area and UTEP is not an eye pleasing campus.  It sure would look a whole lot better in LC with the Organ Mountains in the back ground.

It seems like players diss El Paso on a regular basis. Most of the time they have no right to talk. I believe a few years back one of the Oklahoma players was dissing El Paso.

Dude, you came from Norman Oklahoma, El Paso looks like New York by comparison.

Have been to El Paso on to many occasions.  Nothing wrong with El Paso.  Yes it is a border town but never had issues in El Paso however we do not visit Juarez at night any more.  I went with my uncle to LA about 7 years ago to visit his niece who was attending USC at the time.  The part of town where USC is located is not a nice area. My niece said students  stay around the campus area and tend not to venture out and about around the area.  I don't think the USC athletes should be complaining about El Paso.

El Paso in a very unattractive city---the butt of jokes throughout Texas.

To me El Paso is a beautiful city. Here is a pic of me playing the Coronado Country Club.

It has the highest point in Texas, a tram, some very nice homes, and the UTEP campus is not half bad as the on site Hilton garden inn is a very nice hotel.

El Paso is way better than the rest of Texas. El Paso should be making jokes about Amarillo, Lubbock, and anywhere in between San Antonio and El Paso. The rest of Texas sucks, big time to me.

El Paso is relatively crime free and has great weather and some nice areas. I like El Paso.
Nothing wrong with it at all in my book. It is all comparative. To me El Paso is the garden spot of an otherwise ugly state.

To each his own I guess. Go to Amarillo and then tell me about El Paso. Amarillo sucks big time.

Re: OT: USC Players Dissing El Paso

Back in the '80s, I was playing left field in a night game against USC at Dedeaux Field and could hear two men arguing on the street just on the other side of the fence when one of them smashed a bottle and took off chasing the other one.  I was very eager for the inning to end.

On the other hand, I used to give my ex-fiancee -- a Parkland grad -- tons of crap after we saw an episode of "City Confidential" where Paul Winfield intoned something like "every tenth person you pass on the street in El Paso is likely a smuggler."
