Missouri State/New Mexico State Game Thread
NMSU up 34-23. Matej Buovoc red-shirt was busted tonight. He is 3-3 for 8 points with 2 3 pointers. He looks pretty good.

Seems the light bulb clicked on and they have realized we need a shooter if not 2 on the court all night. It will open up more slashes for Air Canada. Yea Weary was tweeting his grades were excellent this semester. Buovac's redshirt is burned. Hope Weary does not leave.
PG still seems to be an issue. Haven't heard anything on a scholarship available to get a PG, so we may have to wait on the development of KCRM and TDR. Or both?
Go NM State!

AGGIES played sluggish tonight but a win is a win. I was happy to see West play but was yanked after missing two shots. I was hoping to see Eric Weary play, but it didn't happen. I feel he can help the team but I guess we will have to wait and see.

RE: Missouri State/New Mexico State Game Thread
I think in Weary's case, NMSU is solid at shooting guard with Mullings and Aronis. As long as Mulling is healthy, he will start and get the majority of the minutes.
Tonight, I thought Ross-Miller finally played a decent floor game. He only scored 3 points but he dished out 6 assists while only having 3 turnovers (2:1 ratio). One or two of the turnovers were not KC's fault. KC's over-and-back was actually caused be Bandja's bad pass while trying not to double dribble. Another, Sim wasn't ready for KC's pass. Ross-Miller also had 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Also, I noticed Menzies tried to use a back court of Mullings and Aronis. I guess Menzies wanted to give Aronis more court time but he didn't have a good game tonight. And, Mullings is still struggling with his ball handling. Mulling had 5 turnover tonight throwing bad passes and mis-handling the ball. Mullings still has a long way to go if he ever wants to play point guard (at the next level).

Team came out a bit flat but took charge for a feel-good win just before Christmas, just after the bitter losses to UNM, and just prior to WAC play. Lots of players got minutes, including BJ West, seemingly anchored to the bench. Bhullar's free thrown shooting was excellent (7 of 10) and increases his odds to play in close games (no Hack-A-Bhular). While KCRM still gives me occasional heartburn, this was his best game to date. Outside shooting continues to plague NMSU, thus the red-shirt burning of Matej Buovac, a "family-decision" according to Menzies in the post game TV interview in which he suggests everyone agrees it is in the best interest of playing the 6-7 Croation who hit 2-of-3 from beyond the arc (team was 4-14). Menzies said in the interview that Buovac was playing very well in practice. NMSU is far from polished, but Menzies seemingly is methodically putting the pieces together.

Re: Missouri State/New Mexico State Game Thread
I love that Menzies burned the redshirt and also gave West minutes. I think it shows a little desperation, but it also shows that he is looking for answers and willing to try different things. The knock on him is that he seems stubborn and unwilling to deviate from his plan. Buovac has size and a nice looking shot. I wish Mulling's game would develop so that he can play PG permanently. That would allow us to play Buovac, Aronis, or Weary at the 2, and keep a shooter on the floor at all times.

It was good to see West out there. It still appears he needs to see more court time to work out the nerves and settle into the true player he is. Still would like to see Weary out there instead of wasting a year on the bench. I wouldn't be surprised if Weary leaves.

Re: Missouri State/New Mexico State Game Thread
Either Mullings needs to develop his perimeter shot such that he is confident shooting beyond the arc and Menzies wouldn't need to look toward the bench for shooters. Or, Mullings needs to develop his ball handling and passing skills so he can play more point guard. Last night, five turnover was awfully high if Menzies wants to use him as a facilitator.

Close with the players and coaches. He just has a contusion. Any time someone doesn't play people scream transfer, settle down Reactionary Ronnie

Re: Missouri State/New Mexico State Game Thread
I doubt Weary would leave. If you watch him on the bench, he carries himself very well. He isn't showing any signs of being disgruntled. He's congratulating players, and always seems to be encouraging others! He's not going anywhere.
