Re: Boise State Broncos discussing staying in Mountain West,
This is not good news for NM St. or Idaho. They should have saved the WAC.

Re: Boise State Broncos discussing staying in Mountain West,
Well? Maybe, maybe not... If Boise State and possibly San Diego State go back to the MWC, The Big East will need to look elsewhere for replacements to fill their football (and overall) conference; most likely those replacements will come out of C-USA. If C-USA losses more teams, this could create the conference shuffling that might (hopefully) find NMSU a home in either C-USA or the Sun Belt.
As long as, Craig Thompson is the commissioner of the MWC, I don't think NMSU (and Idaho) will ever be an option in his conference expansion plans. NMSU will need to look elsewhere if they want to save their FBS football program.

clay777 wrote: This is not good news for NM St. or Idaho. They should have saved the WAC. How is it our problem to save the WAC? Honestly why should we? 26 other schools have left the WAC starting next Fall, 27 the following fall when Idaho moves oly sports to BSC. So I guess it is our fault they all left! Are you going to harp on bringing in Lamar like you always do. Would Lamar even want to move up? How would they have saved the WAC? Would more FCS schools have wanted to move up and stayed, I think they all would have done what UTSA did in a heart beat. Can you guarantee that they would have moved up? You can't can you, because every other day some school moves to a new conference. Conference realignment is a jig saw puzzle that is contently changing the puzzle pieces shapes. Nothing fits together or make sense anymore. Every school is constantly looking for greener pastures. Conferences are just stops along the way to make more money. Harping that NMSU and Idaho(like mentioned before is heading to BSC in 2014) could have saved the WAC is a waste of your breath. Cause the second NMSU, Seattle or any other future school of next year gets a chance at a better conference situation for their school, they are going to take it and leave. Doing the right thing in college athletics doesn't exist and it will never again. They say football drives the bus, but money makes the engine go. The mighty dollar is what every university is chasing after. How they get there and who they push over they don't care. So why should NMSU and Idaho shoulder the whole responsibility of saving the WAC? 26 other schools didn't think it was worth it. Clay go find yourself a school. Then maybe you will understanding why conferences are revolving doors. Maybe you are a graduate of Lamar and have been craving to see them as a full FBS D1 school.

RE: Boise State Broncos discussing staying in Mountain West, snu
Doesn't change a single thing for NMSU.
Only chance at MWC was always mass defection, unless Boise forms a New League and poaches from the MWC - not going to happen.
Most likely scenario for NMSU:
MWC keeps BSU - Adds SMU & Houston (possibly adds Tulsa or Utep, or takes back SD State no discussion with this school yet)
Big East AKA (UConn and Cinci) call up all the best CUSA programs. CUSA calls up all the best Sun Belt Programs
We get an invite from either CUSA or the Belt
These are the dominoes that have always had to fall before we know our fate, we're the fat kid who gets picked second to last for dodge ball. Idaho is the fat, stinky kid who's last and elects not to play.

People are forgetting that if Boise State and San Diego State decide to stay in the MWC, they will have to pay 10 million dollars. Boise and San Diego are staying in the Big East.

Re: Boise State Broncos discussing staying in Mountain West,
When Boise State and San Diego State agreed to join the Big East, Rutgers, Louisville and the seven catholic schools were still in the conference. I'm not sure what was in their agreement to join, but Boise State and San Diego State aren't part of the conference until July 2013 so they might have a legal action or clause that invalidates the contract. I'm sure if Boise State (and San Diego State) wants out of the Big East, the MWC will work with them to make it happen.

Would any university with a halfways bright individual at the helm tie their future to Boise State? I would avoid Boise State like the plague.

The latest about NMSU hurting your RPI is loob poop, your other ooc games are what traditionally hurt the loobs RPI. Blame Alfords weak ass scheduling...its also the reason Alfords winning percentage is so much higher than Menzies.

Did FSU and UNR pay their $5 million each exit fee to the WAC? These exit fees seem to be as binding as coach's contracts.

They don't have to pay the $10 million if the Big East didn't deliver their promise of a certain amount to the TV package. They are free to go. Also SDSU doesn't have to pay because if Boise can leave then they get a free leave to. The contract said that if either SDSU or Boise leave that the other would not have to pay the exit fee. Boise get's out free and now SDSU will get out free. SDSU has been negotiating a stay in the MWC for at least 6 weeks now. Boise didn't want to according to sources and now they are driving this and are going to get what they want. SDSU is tied at the hip with Boise so they will be back. BYU is also negotiating back into the MWC. They were having a tough time scheduling as an independent and their TV money was being spent on paying teams to come into Provo. More profit by being in the MWC.

RE: Boise State Broncos discussing staying in Mountain West, snu
Just more proof that unm is a "Nobody" on the national stage. Apparently Colorado St and New Mexico State of the MWC is trying to create their own conference. No one outside of NM cares who unm or NMSU is. They can't even get the right schools matched up to the right conferences. m.nbcsports.com/content/boise-...%E2%80%99-value The news came just before a Dennis Dodd report that Colorado State and New Mexico State of the MWC are considering forming a new conference that would have Boise State and/or BYU as its cornerstone. The interest is reportedly “preliminary but informal.”
Boston called the return to the NCAA tournament "a first step" toward the goal he and Theus talked about in Atlanta two years ago. "We talked about winning a national championship, not about getting into the NCAA tournament," Boston said.
