Aggies So Frustrating to Watch
The point guard position is so weak. So many bad decisions. Very disappointing. We should could have used Chili. Bhullar is so limited. After a decent start, Dixon went 0-4 putting up junk that had no chance to go in. What? Put in BJ?
Sy is looking good.
Watson playing better.
Mullings playing his game.
Barry does one good thing, three bad things.
Aronis finally hits one.
Menzies is so weak.
What will the 2nd half bring?

Well TDR got hurt so he gets a little less criticism from me but KCRM isn't getting it done. As I type Coach Alford hits TDR on the head.

RE: Aggies So Frustrating to Watch
Sigh!
Aggies lack so many fundamentals. Chili would have made a difference tonight. All you guys calling for Dixon, now you know why he doesn't play much. There are other problems. Menzies was concerned about the point guard position going into the season and with good reason.
Watson tries to be the leader, but his skills are limited as evidenced by the crucial turnover late in the game.
Menzies seems so wimpy. Last year he had Big Wen.
Yes, UNM is a good team but an Aggie team with huevos would have won it.

Aronis shouldn't have been taken out of the game. He had the hot hand and Menzies killed it. SMH!!!!

RE: Aggies So Frustrating to Watch
NMSU has enough talent to win, but I'm not sure about many of the player's basketball IQ. Aggies don't have a Monster Man to take charge. Too many players play so tentative. I'm not sure if some of the personnel are capable of getting better, but I think the team will get better and has enough pieces to win a lot of their upcoming games.
In the meantime another UNM sweep and yet another Menzies loss to Alford.

RE: Aggies So Frustrating to Watch
In the last 5 minutes of the game, Menzies went strickly with Ross-Miller, Mullings, Watson, Sy, and only subbed between Bhullar and Dixon; essentially making NMSU's offense one dimensional. Every score had to be at the rim (or get fouled). Then to compound NMSU's lack of offense, these guys were missing their free-throws when fouled. If NMSU is going to improve moving forward, Menzies can't close out games with so many non-shooter on the floor. He really needs to find more playing time for players like Aronis, Barry, and DeRouen. These guys can stretch a defense with their shooting range.

Aronis 4 3 pointers for 12 pts in only 9 minutes. Really Menzies, 9 freaking minutes. WOW.

RE: Aggies So Frustrating to Watch
Next season... Ideally, the coaching staff really needs to work hard next season transitioning Daniel Mullings to either a "true" shooting guard or a "true" point guard. Either improve his perimeter shooting or improve his ball handling. Mullings is a sensational player but he has no true position. Two better shooters, Aronis and Weary sit on the bench behind him. And, neither Ross-Miller or DeRouen are exceptional point guards right now. Either we need to move Mullings to point guard and play Aronis at the shooting guard. Or we need to have two consistent three point shooter at the forwards (Barry, Weary, Aronis, Buovac, Dixon (maybe?)) to offset Mullings lack of range at shooting guard.
This year's starting line up sucks because none are consistent outside shooters when they need quick offense. Menzies has to sub in players just so we can hit threes.

I have been saying all along put West in!!! Menzies get with it our you'll have a pitiful year!! Sim has no clue what to do with the ball. He is scared to shoot and can't make free throws. Just plain horrible.

Re: Aggies So Frustrating to Watch
Is dribbling into traffic and losing the ball a team strategy or are KCRM, TDR, Mullings and Watson all being idiotic on their own?

Re: Aggies So Frustrating to Watch
UGH! Menzies needs to ride a hot hand when he has it... Aronis was playing well; he needed more minutes.
When you are ahead in a game, play Ross-Miller, Mullings, Watson, Sy, and Dixon (Sim can't make free-throws). But when you are behind and up need offense (in this game), play the guys who are scoring! Watson, Mullings, Aronis, Sy and Barry!

Watching the game again and am so unimpressed with his play. He is a liability defensively. Williams went off on him, not until Menzies put Mullings on Williams did he cool down. Then with 3 minutes left and the Aggies down 5, the loobs get the ball and he took 5 steps before beginning to run back to help Watson stop a fastbreak. I mean try to stop a fastbreak. Watson made his 4th foul and the loobs went up 7. If KCRM had hustled back he would have been on the side where he could have stole the pass to the guy Watson fouled. Boy do I miss LaRoche.

Yes, UNM is a good team but an Aggie team with huevos would have won it. I'm not sure who on this board were calling for Dixon. I believe that's all on MM. Most guys have been calling for BJ West and he continues to rot on the bench. Play West for 21 minutes and see what he can do.

Did you ever think of that?? Coaches for the most part don't air their dirty laundry in public.
