McKinley Boston

McKinley Boston Post Rating (5 votes)

Why would he say "NMSU has had no contact with Conference USA"?  Seriously, this makes him sound like he isn't doing his job.  You mean to tell me Mr Boston, you haven't picked up the phone at all today with all the movement that is going on?  Really, do you care?

Only an inept Director that was on his way out would not be in contact with someone at Conference USA.  rolleyes  Either that, or he's a liar.  A simple "no comment" would have made him sound like he was in control...... what a pathetic choice of words.

While this is a true statement, it's probably a misleading one. I'll wager anything that NMSU has been in talks with C-USA's current membership concerning joining the league. As such, while we have not been in communication with C-USA per se, we HAVE been in communication with the membership.

These kinds of acts are normal in today's collegiate athletic scene. I'd not worry much about it, CrimsonDisciple.

One angle that I have been thinking is that he may be in contact with either the Sunbelt/MWC and didn't want them to think he was playing multiple conferences.  Hence the reason for the "shocked" attitude when the reporter contact him. noidea  Regardless, poor choice of words.

Let's hope he's not just waiting for the phone to ring.

Boston is not nearly as dumb or inactive as some like to make him out to be.  He certainly has his faults, but give him at least some credit.

Credit for what ? He has not shown any leadership but many here have been happy to just humm along waiting for 'something to happen" He should have been fired a long time ago.

My take is that Dr. Boston is working behind the scenes to make things happen.

He is not dumb or lazy. He is just playing the political hand dealt him.

In today's modern business world Politics rule and you must play along or be left behind.

It is sad but true, and politics should not matter. But they do.

And Dr. Boston knows how politics work and he is doing the best he can as fast as he can.

I believe in Dr. Boston.

I believe he will do right for NMSU as best he can.

He is doing something right now. We just can't see it.

We will soon enough.

That is my take.

And I am sticking to it.

I too was concerned about that quote. Like he said last year makes me worry that we are "still committed to the WAC."

Boston does not care about quotes in the heat of the battle in the paper.

Perhaps he should, but that is not his style. His style is to get things done and then let the actions speak for themselves.

We shall see if he has been working it in the near future. We shall see if he has been naughty or nice.

We can make a list.

And check it twice.

I've been saying this all along. For Some reason Aggie fans blame him for not getting them into a conference. I can tell you he's busted his butt to get it done. Just because you don't hear a thing doesn't mean he's working to get it done. Not his style, nor anyone else s style to tell anyone what they are doing.

What are you basing your faith in Dr. Boston on?  Under his watch support for NMSU sports has dwindled, we are one of the worst D-1 programs in fund raising, zero ties to the community, conferenceless....  He was clueless at Minnesota and it cost him his job their as well.  I checked it twice JT. I think you need to check it again.

Last night during the UTEP game channel 13 out of Abq. asked him point blank if NMSU is to become a member of Conference USA.  With a big smile he replied that he was very optimistic with the conversations that have taken place with Conference USA and basically said he could not comment further when pressed for more info.

Re: McKinley Boston

It seems to me that the guy who reported the denial left out context or exaggerated what he thought to be the case.  I tend to believe what comes directly out of someone's mouth over an article with an agenda.

So when NMSU finds a home, will they still have to play out the 1 year of independence?  Is it too late to dump the 2013 independent schedule for a conference schedule?  It will be interesting to see how all this works out.  Idaho could be in a lot of trouble if we back out of 1 or both of our games with them.

It seems that conference realignment negotiations everywhere are being held behind closed doors with all participants sworn to secrecy.

Saw the exact same thing last night on 13.

I also wonder if we would join next year? We already have a game with RICE and Maybe FAU.

Of Course he is going to say he has had NO CONTACT with C-USA. This guy is not an idiot! He's also talking to the Sunbelt so he can't let them know they're not the priority. He also has to worry about pissing the WAC off, in case they have to stay. AD's across the country are going to lie through their teeth to the public in order to position their schools best interest. There's nothing wrong with this.

I'm pretty sure the WAC knows of our intentions. We all but told them this when we said we were going to keep football at the FBS level.
