RE: Edwards back...

I'd give Lee Evans a few snaps at QB.

Re: Edwards back...

Ugh, Fitzpatrick sucks. Trent goes downfield as well, with the most recent attempts being overthrown balls or drops by TO ohlord - There's a reason why our offense went from explosive the first two weeks of the season to crap. It's the offensive line. We have one of the worst running games right now in the league too. As soon as Brad Butler went down the end of week 2, so did our offense. Fitzpatrick doesn't help as he's not that good to start with. Jairus Byrd and the pass defense is the reason for our wins over the Panthers and Jets.

All Fitzpatrick did was not turn the ball over. Unfortunately we're not playing the Panthers for the rest of the year and the Jets probably won't throw 6 interceptions again for the rest of the year. Fitz sure had a crappy day against a bad Texans pass defense. 2 INTs and 0 TDs against those guys? bleh. You might as well put your best option in which is why Trent will start again when he's over his concussion. Deal with the QB situation when the offseason comes around. But we'd better take care of this catastrophe we call an offensive line

Re: Edwards back...

lol, I can't help but laugh and smile at Buff's constant defence of Trent Edwards.  The fact of the matter is that he's a subpar QB who's afraid to take a chance downfield.  Would I like to see Fitz remain at QB for the rest of the season?  Heck yeah!  The Bills with Edwards at the helm would produce as much offense as the happless Browns (who beat us with Edwards under center btw) would.  Let's stop defending a QB who should be our number 2 QB at best.

Re: Edwards back...

My point is he is a better option than Fitzpatrick. I'm fine with trading for a QB this offseason or drafting one but people are so in love with the fact that we won two games with him starting at QB and refuse to acknowledge that he had very little to do with it. When offense was needed and couldn't just depend on Byrd and the pass defense to bail us out, we sputtered against a weak Texans defense. Fitzpatrick takes more chances down field? Hardly and if he does he's not producing anyway, so why the like?

The coaching staff is going to put the best QB on the field who gives us the best chance to win. Who do you think they are going to go with? Fitzpatrick was brought in here to play the backup as he is a career backup QB. He didn't produce when he was playing for the Bengals last year and he's not producing here. I'm not calling Trent this great QB, but he's a better QB than Fitzpatrick. Trent posted an 85 QB rating last season while getting sacked about as many times as he's been sacked through 6 games of this season. That's ridiculous.

Look at the way Donovan McNabb struggled to get going against a lousy Raiders team because he was playing with a depleted offensive line. Now his guys are healthy and the Eagles are flying high again. It all starts up front

Re: Edwards back...

lol I find this very interesting.

Trent Edwards on the year: 5 TD 6 INTs 6.4 yards per attempt 60% completion  73.0 QB rating

Ryan Fitzpatrick on the year 2 TDs 3 INTs 5.1 yards per attempt 51% completion 57.8 QB rating

All these harps about Fitz going down field.........he's not producing and is checking down more than Edwards. In a bad year for the offense it's obvious who is struggling and who has been flat out awful.  Fitzpatrick's highest yards per attempt was in the Carolina game where he averaged 5.6. Which doesn't even match Trent Edward's average yards per attempt on the year. If you guys want to continually see those numbers for the 2nd QB then keep vouching for him to play. We'll get a better draft pick for sure. The better QB option will be who suits up for the next game. You can take a wild guess who that will be

Anyone care to know Fitzpatrick's yards per attempt last season thru 13 games with the Bengals? 5.1 yards per attempt. The guy sucks and is anything but a downfield demon

Re: Edwards back...

How about we stop focussing on last year's numbers and look closely at the outputs of both QBs THIS year.  Howeover, at the end of the day we're talking about two mediocre QBs who don't deserve to be starting anywhere nor do they deserve to be featured on anybody's personal avatars.

Re: Edwards back...

I had no expectation of becoming an Edwards Defender (not an adult toy...) but come on folks.  An earlier post identified the O line as the culprit, and I couldn't agree more.  We could have anyone back there, but with no time, and no running game (read blocking) there isn't much in the way of options.  Unfortunately, the thing that really works for an O line is for them to stay together for an extended period, but who would suggest we keep this group intact?  First and foremost we need a quality center, then a left tackle.  Then KEEP THEM. Then maybe they can pull from time to time, maybe they can provide more than 1 second for a read.  How can you go downfield when you're throwing from your back? Look at Shanahan in the off season, then have him find an O line coach, and a couple of free agents.  Then the quarterback debate will disappear, or at least lessen.

I point out his numbers from last year because they are practically the same so far as a starter here. Therefore you can expect the lousy 5.1 yards to attempt to continue. Say what you want about Edwards but he was a steady QB for us when the line was at least decent. This isn't about Trent as a QB as much as it is the mancrush some seem to have have Fitzpatrick and him being the better option at QB. With him in our offense goes from bad to laughable. I posted the numbers for THIS season and it's out there for everyone to view.

lol Section you are nuts if you think any QB will come in and be successful playing behind our offensive line. Jason Peters is gone. Dockery gone. Butler gone. And say hello to the three rookies (one coming from another team's practice squad) the 2008 7th round pick, and the backup center from Carolina that feature up front for us this season. And with the running game being non existant it's hard to imagine any QB being successful back there, though for some reason you don't seem to think it matters all that much.

Re: Edwards back...

I hope they tank it, Keep running an unimaginative offense. Heck the only off. play that work is the end aroud to T.O maybe we can use that as our own special package... Ef the wild cat someone needs to come up with a name for it my brain has been put to sleep watch this unispired team....Since Mcnabbs name been brought up he probably going to be available unless they win the SB this year...

Re: Edwards back...

I doubt Donovan McNabb would agree to play behind this joke of an offensive line. What respectable quarterback would? On top of his 9 TD 1 INT start through five games, I don't see Philly letting him walk

IT DOESNT MATTER WHO IS UNDER CENTER.THE TRUTH IS OUR O-LINE SUCKS!MEREDITH IS PRETTY GOOD AND SO IS BELL(HE HAS TO ANTICIPATE THE SNAP COUNT BETTER-TOO MANY FALSE STARTS ON HIM ALONE)THE 2 ROOKIES ARE TOO SMALL AND HANGARTHER'S POSITION SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SWITCHED!!!!!!OUR O-LINE DOESNT HOLD UP WELL AT ALL! THIS MEANS OUR QB(WHOEVER HE IS) IS EITHER UNDER PRESSURE OR ALREADY SACKED BY THE TIME A 3-STEP OR 5-STEP DROP IS COMPLETED. WE NEED TO CLEAN OUT DA FRONT OFFICE LIKE YESTERDAY!!!!  RALPH WILSON, JAURON,GUY,VAN PELT, & FEWELL MUST GO. WE KEEP APRIL AND START FRESH!!! NEXT IS TRENT & FITZ. GET SOME BEEF ON THE O-LINE(THOSE GUYS PROBABLY DONT AVG MORE THAN 320LBS) 350LBS & UP SHOULD HELP(SEE THE VIKINGS & THE PATS) THEN GET BACK TO THE RUNNING GAME.WE HAVE CRASH AND SLASH ON OUR TEAM & WE DONT USE THEM TOGETHER! PUT JACKSON BACK IN THE BACKFIELD(HE ACCOUNTED 41% OF OUR OFFENSE WHEN LYNCH WAS SUSPENDED!) AND HE IS A GREAT RECEIVING THREAT OUT OF THE BACKFIELD. PUT ROSCOE BACK ON RETURN DUTIES. HE GETS US GOOD FIELD POSITION.AND GET RID OF JOSH REED!!!! HE RUNS GREAT ROUTES,BUT HE'S NO THREAT. INSERT JAMES HARDY IN THE SLOT.IMAGINE A 6'6 SLOT RECEIVER BEING COVERED BY A LINEBACKER.HE WINS EVERYTIME AND THAT OPENS UP THE OUTSIDE FOR LEE OR T.O OR NELSON(IF THEY CHOOSE TO USE 4-RECEIVER SETS. ITS NOT TOO LATE 4 US TO WIN. WE HAVE TO START BEING MORE UNPREDICTABLE( I.E -LYNCH'S HALFBACK PASS TO ROYAL IN CINCINNATI,FAKE FIELD GOAL AGAINST N.O, FAKE PUNT AGAINST JAX ETC). ITS NOT TOO LATE TO WIN!!!!!!BILLEVE  BILLS76
