A picture back at you of our new $200,000,000+ prep school building (for a few hundred students for one year each).  Maybe the guys in your at least nine year old picture would rather hang out there. IMHO the WP brass and Army brass in general are as insufficiently concerned with the comfort of the "boots on the ground" as they are with being efficient with taxpayers money. The Supe is likely too busy pouring another Civas Regal for some booster who might hire him into the "Military Industrial Complex" to worry about that though.

The "guys" are Marine grunts "hanging out" in Iraq.  Of course I am sure you have pictures from Afghan (from your time there).  rolleyes The "guys" were too busy hunting, capturing and killing insurgents to enjoy even the basics of "hanging out" at the FOB.  Money was not the issue.  The condiitions for grunts have not improved at Afghan.  But as a brilliant military mind I am sure that you knew that.

By the way, lowly grunts, such as those in the picture, help protect the freedoms that you enjoy.

I mostly agree OLBarn, except maybe with the " Money was not the issue part". I'm not getting my point across. Its been debated in other guises on this board before. I'm glad and grateful for these Marines. That doesn't mean I think that the military as a whole is being used efficiently.

I don't understand how when I say "enough with the trillion dollar aircraft carriers" you hear "this liberal doesn't appreciate the sacrifice of some brave corporal"

I didn't say anything about liberal, Cpl or aircraft carriers.

By the way, those trillon dollar aircraft carriers are responsible for some of the air power that can mean life or death to the lowly grunt fighting for his life.  Without them grunts will DIE.

Plus, when budget cuts come they are not limited to trillon dollar aircraft carriers.   Our Armed Forces are using older more worn out equipment, then our warriors from not too long ago used.  This issue will get worse with budget cuts.
