And the Uniforms Are.....

And the Uniforms Are.....

OK i said I would report back.  Was hanging at the Comm's house during the C of C I can report  we definitely have the right administration support. I am partial but there can be no mistake these Generals see this football team as a priority and an emphasis for our Academy.  In a word- they get it and are putting the effort into making us relevant on a weekly basis.  The coaching change is a sea change.  He is everywhere and a dervish, the players respect him and their confidence is growing.  It is not enough to believe, they are gaining big time weight and sucking down protein drinks at an astonishing clip.  The practice I saw was not easy, organized brutality I would call it.

My favorite part of the trip was to meet with the equipment guys.  Old traditionalists are going to hate it, but look for numerous uniform combinations this year, in fact they may have a different look almost every week.  They are going to respect the old traditions with a modern take, so strap on your best old grad "the corps has" because they are going to look different, traditional but different.  The players are giving their input and the coaches are approving it so it is what they football players want.  Nothing extreme like the Maryland uniforms but in two words "get ready".  I fear for Rabbles heart on this one.

We are apparently well plugged into the Nike camp and the support I am told for Academy Football is top notch.  You may not like their choices but the players do, and it is great another American company is willing to showcase our efforts and make us look contemporary and exciting.  Its going to be great to look good and be winning too.  I'm excited to see how this new Army rolls out....

86.....pop it up....big bites.
Well written verse.
They can wear PINK cammo uni's all season if they run the table...
THE most important thing is ADMINISTRATION change........Caslen and this new Com have been there and done that as former players....they KNOW what it takes to win and they are supplying a WINNING COACH with the ammo to do his job.
The success of this program does not hinge on one player or one recruit.....but a complete change of mind set.
I believe we call it LEADERSHIP.
Great news...
GO ARMY

Another encouraging report.  I love hearing stuff like this, along with the reports of summer training change...very exciting.

I'm a traditionalist and was hoping Monken would pick the old-school black, gray, and gold and stick to it (like the traditional look they had at Georgia Southern), but I don't care...any uniform looks good during a win streak.

Hoorah!

Another great report '86, and a perfect response '78!

ALL the planets are definitely lined up.  You hit 3 of 'em, with the HC, Supt and Comm, but don't forget the CSA.  Odierno is a key players here.  He's been the Top Cover for Caslen and crew.  It starts with him and flows downhill.

Put it this way:  It's not hyperbole to say this could have really been the Last and Best chance to resurrect a program on literal life-support.  We were absolutely circling the drain.  Without question, one of the worst FBS programs in the country over the last dozen years and in an absolute death spiral.   It took the Supt exactly one year to decide that Ellerson was part of the problem.  It took zero time for the CSA to cover him as the Supt and the AD PERSONALLY - without benefit of committees or study groups or any other BS - bought Ellerson's ass out and then selected and approved Jeff Monken.

For his part, it took Monken virtually no time to realize the extent of damage.  He was all charged up and stoked when he arrived, then reality set in when he realized the lack of size and talent and discipline that was Ellerson's legacy.  From spring training on......Monken's been steely-eyed.  He's a sobered man who now knows how high the mountain is, but he's a man intensely driven to get us to the top.

I think we've been incredibly fortunate to have these men all gather together.  The CSA, the Supt, the HC, and now the Comm.   It's a Stud Farm.   No pansies, no bureaucrats, no REMF's.  These are warriors and they're on a mission.

And that's what it took to pull our asses out of the crapper. We needed 'em all, because we were so far in that we had to look up to see down.  Now it's time to About - Face!   Time to get even.   Forget about black or gold or anything that don't really matter. Too many horrendous recent memories in those colors anyway.  Let Nike dress 'em up if that's what the men like.   I just want to see bodies flyin' around.  I want to see the National Champions of Toughness again.  And I want to hear our opponents say the same thing a Penn St player said to me after we handed them their ass in Michie our Soph Year:  "I f***ing HATE playing Army, it's like going to WAR!"

Out.

Great to hear this! An inspiring message and welcome change of pace from post counts, parking lots, Yankee Stadium, and F Lot.

I've been saying this since before New Year's.

Ellerson was gone at homecoming last year, but the Supe had to play out the 2013 option. Let's not forget Gen Trainor the Dean. He is as much on board as anyone, and I can tell you as a DEAN fully supports the program. In as much as he has a job to do. Gen "O" is the key to this he can not stand to lose, and the competition at the Pentagon, and is determined to turn the "tank" around

Hereby acknowledge your precedent '99....

and glad to "Fall In"!

Also, good to hear from rbmarmy that the Dean is on board; that's huge as well.

(Finally, sorry that I can't add the CJCS to my personal list, even though he's a grad.  Without gettin' too political, let's just say I don't put him in or even close to the League of Extraordinary Army Men).....

Out.

The Dean better support the program now that his son is on the team.

Re: And the Uniforms Are.....

Ending my summertime posting embargo...all right, for the record: I favor the plain old black, grey and gold unis with no names, I vastly prefer the kicking-mule logo, and so far as I'm concerned we are the Cadets, not the BKs of the Hudson.

Now that I've gotten that irrelevant BS off my chest...I don't give a damn if they play in jockstraps and transparent nighties, if that's what the players want and they're putting up some Ws. Carping about uniform styles, parking, concessions, etc. are what fans of crappy teams do when they've run out of substantive stuff to bitch about.

Armorman...hooah...good to see you have a positive impression of USMA's new leadership. I expect to see the Com, Supe, Dean, et al. out there leading rockets and riding the mules, following Gen. Scott's (God rest his soul) excellent example. Come to think of it...leading rockets at football games is probably a damned refreshing change after plodding on the Pentagon treadmill for a few years. I bet the general officers at WP are stoked.

Oh, please don't fall in behind me.  That'll be a disaster.

I don't know anything in particular about Gen. Dempsey; just thought it was interesting that at this point in time the Chair happens to be not only an Army man, but an Old Grad as well.  Perhaps he's the "Pluto" of the bunch.

The way Dempsey marches in lock step with the current admin, I doubt very much that he gave any real meaningful support to the resurrection of Army football.

Dempsey has a lot on his plate, but he was at my Army-Navy Taillgate last year schmoozing.  He get's it but lets not overestimate his role on Army football either.  He is on board from what I could see.  The force is General O-  he wants this bad and is not taking any prisoners.

Re: And the Uniforms Are.....

Uniforms, parking, concessions are substantial things to talk about including a win once in awhile.

It all makes it good for the game day WP experience.
