Jacob Taylor, RB/DB Rim of the World H.S., CA
My local paper says he committed to Army. See below http://www.maxpreps.com/athlet...cob--taylor.htmOver the yrs, the Mids have had a few productive players from this neck of the woods. Chris Proctor for one, as I remember.

And one that got away -- Jason Black to AFA
His dad is a West Point grad but Army didn't give him an offer? http://www.fresnobee.com/2013/...ishing-the.htmlSeems like he should have been a great fit for Army.

This Taylor kid looks pretty good. I don't know much about the competition in this video but he seems to have good burst through the hole, good vision and I don't see anyone catching him from behind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F3fHPjfKps

RIM OF THE WORLD High School. That's a great name. I hope if he makes it so he won't wind up playing for us as DEATH VALLEY Academy. We gotta get better!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F3fHPjfKps One of the captions says he was named a Small Schools All American; so he probably wasn't facing the best competition in the state, but even so, he looks very good. I like the way he takes advantage of his blockers and then finds daylight. His running style reminds me of some of the tapes of Pete Dawkins back in the day, although I certainly wouldn't elevate him to that status just yet. Seems we picked up a few good running backs this year with this kid, Billy East and Nehemiah Brown all with apparent breakaway speed. The commits at FB aren't as flashy, although Jonathan Mixon supposedly is a hard runner with potential if he puts on a few pounds, and Corey Wilkinson has the size at 225 and apparently is competitive at the 100 yard dash as well. We're a season or two away from needing help at that position anyway.

Taylor is a small-school All-American and CA's small school player of the year. The competition isn't the level of East's but I think his burst and vision will translate. I like that nobody was catching him from behind either. Some of CA's small school players have translated pretty well (Tyler Bray won this award and started as a true freshman at Tennessee), so we shall see how Taylor does. Personally I think you have the chance to get a guy that runs for 4000 yards and wins a section championship, you do it and figure out where to use him later.
East went to my old HS for a semester. He played on a poor team but has pretty good speed. I see East as a Malcom Brown type as he's smaller, quick, etc. He could be a kick returner as well. I did like that he was able to outrun DBs going to UCLA and OU in some of the film I saw.

RE: Jacob Taylor, RB/DB Rim of the World H.S., CA
Hello...ND fan here. Just wanted to come over & see if Jacob Taylor actually signed with Army. As a former alum & FB player from Rim of the World HS Fighting Scots (Class of 71) I was very suprised by what this young man accomplished at Rim. He rushed for 4,032 yds this year & had (I believe) over 2500 as a jr. (couldn't find any stats for his soph yr, but believe he was over 1,000) Yes, Rim plays in one of the lower divisions of the California Interscholastic Federation(CIF).(Not sure which, as things have changed alot since I went there.) But from my understanding they are usually the smallest school in their league/division as far as student body goes. They play who they play & at any level when you get to the playoffs, you play the best of that level & that's all you can do.
While I have'nt been able to follow my HS closely over the years, Rim has turned out a few good players: Mike Wahle- Navy/Green Bay Packers/Carolina Panthers, John Merandi-ND, Ken Williamson- Arizona State & a former teammate of mine Pat Hill who coached at Fresno St. & is currently the OL coaches of the Atlanta Falcons.
I hope Taylor has a great career at Army & an even better career in the Army.
Semper Fi!!! (9+ yrs in the Corps & 27 years as an Air Force Reservse Air Reservse Technician)

Diamonds in the rough
We have to find these "rare jem" types whom others miss.
But let's just complain about them & think they are rocks not rubies or dregs and not diamonds.

Seems like he should have been a great fit for Army. Yep. We actually lost both in that article. We offered Sundberg.
