Maybe gametime will be 6:30AM since the squad will be accustomed to that time. The program grows ever wackier. Forget the big leagues with Navy and AF, soon even Div1AA teams won't want to schedule us.

i also like the friday game. don't have to sit through unmerciful heat and still have my labor day weekend fully in tact. Would be nice to watch other games that saturday afternoon like UGA/Clemson and LSU/TCU

What? A friday night game??????? YOU GOTTA BE KIDDIN' ME!!! That one ought to light up the box office. 7, maybe 8 thousand for that one? Where this administration comes up with this nonsense, beats me. I am reading that Army Football book, WHEN SATURDAYS MATTERED. I guess we can change that title to WHEN SATURDAY'S DON"T MATTER ANY MORE. WE PLAY ON FRIDAY. They are saying that the Morgan State players have to be home by midnight back to Baltimore so that is why we have to play them friday evening early. Saturdays are left open for study.

Re: Sal tweets the opener may be moved to 30 August. Why not?...
This game looks like its going to be a tough one for us. The proverbial powerhouse Morgan State eleven out of Baltimore brings to Michie Stadium a rough , tough , scintillating offense surrounded by a tenacious, stiff, rough and tough defense in the tradition of past, glorious and pulsating former teams of great stature from the Baltimore area, reminicent of those great professional Colt teams of the 1950's. Folks, its going to be a barnburner of a contest featuring our new QB, Austin James" You Can Be Sure" Schurr. Better known in football circles as just plain "AJ", he brings to the Black Knights a potent offense of highly skilled, motivated players and coached by the excitable and tenacious Rich Ellerson at the helm. IT'S ARMY-MORGAN STATE!! Tickets on sale next month. "Leave the lighting of Michie to us. All you have to do is bring cash to get thru the gate. Hot Dogs half price. Mustard not included." ( Now if that doesn't bring some fannies in the seats on a possible hot night in August, I don't know what will!). WP needs old RAB as their PR specialist. All I can say here is if a half price hot dog doesn't do the trick, your ticket refund to watch another loss after this loss will be gladly refunded.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the decision was influenced by the fact that it's Labor Day weekend and a lot of the cadets are probably planning to take off for the long weekend. Probably want to have maximum cadet participation at the home game. If so, I think it's a good move. Generally I agree that Friday night games are not desireable at WP. I was checking back through a few of the old schedules and can't find a year in which we played a home game on Labor Day weekend. Anyone remember that ever happening? In my day, football season never started until after Labor Day, and weren't back in school yet.

Re: Possibly only win, so real good idea to play it in
There is Absolutely no question in my mind that the 2013 Army Football team can win a game this year. No question whatsoever. I am not quite as sure if we can win 2 games tho. I gotta think about that the next few months. Now if I think we can win two, I'll see what develops in my mind over winning three games. Wins are tough to predict. Losses come easier.

I'll take a Friday night game once a season, especially if it's in August. Better than burning to a crisp and suffocating at a high noon kickoff in August, anyways.

Although Sal didn't specify a time, he just said "Friday". Knowing this athletic department, they've moved the game to a Friday kickoff at 11:00 AM so that our game won't conflict with CBS Sports' coverage of that evening's women's field hockey game between Dartmouth and Bryant . Better ratings take precedent, after all.

You people will complain about anything
Your OPINION is driven by the fact that he's bigger, stronger, more mobile and has a stronger arm???? Jeez that must be ALL it takes to be a great QB under the Phatphelix system.

In 2008, the home opener against Temple was moved from SAT 30 AUG to FRI night 29 AUG to accomodate cadets who typically take leave or travel home for the long Labor Day weekend.
Temple crushed us 35-7, followed by a 28-10 loss to UNH in the rain the next Saturday. Ah, the good old days.

So the precedent is there for moving the game to Friday night when it falls on Labor Day weekend. Hopefully, the outcome will be reversed and the cadets will have a happy Labor Day to celebrate.

Wait, if it's a night game, how will our offense see the signs so that they know which play to run?
Expect that this adventure is going to be difficult. It is going to be hard. And expect to win.

Re: Sal tweets the opener may be moved to 30 August. Why not?...
It really does not matter that the game is moved to Friday night. Everyone has 7 months notice to change anything they may need to change in order to attend that game.
As far as the size of the crowd expected I doubt it will have any bad effect on that at all. Being Labor Day weekend some would not attend if the game was not moved anyway. I think being Army was a 2-10 team playing a FCS School that is not considered very good by FCS standards (Morgan State) there is not going to be a lot of interest in any non die hard Army or Morgan State fan to attend this game. I would expect a very low number to attend (in the 20 thousands at best). I would be shocked unless they gave tickets away to see near 30,000 attend this game.
Even IF Army had come off a 8 or 9 win season with a CIC and a Bowl win ( yes a far fetched dream at this point) I still doubt you would see a big crowd for this game.
