UNCCharlotte, has joined C-USA for football and has..

scheduled Kansas State in 2016. Other previous Div1AA schools are stepping up and joining 1A conferences while we head downward with no one in power seeming to give a damn or possible even to understand. Sad situation.

Plain,
I am missing your logic here.

UNCC joining CUSA & Scheduling KSU = heading upward & their leadership is good & cares.

Thus if Army joined CUSA & scheduled someone like Oklahoma would that mean we would be heading upward & our leadership was on top of things??

No, following Navy's and AF's lead would be moving ahead.

Playing a football factory like Oklahoma makes no sense at all.

But it makes sense for UNCC to play KSU??  I understand they are doing it for a payday, but why is that OK for them & not us?  I also ask who did we play our best against - the biggest name teams on our schedule - so why not play out of our minds against OU??

Follow Navy's lead to the Big East??  That doesn't look too promising.

I am not saying we should stay independent, but I don't know the numbers of our contract with CBS College Sports & CBS for the A/N game so I can't make a reasoned judgment.

I think we might value ourselves a bit more than we are worth to a conference.  When I look at the conferences none appeal to me except the ACC & the SEC & I don't see them beating down our door.  Also, I don't know how wise it would be to put ourselves in a position to be the doormat for years.

I don't think the AD is just sitting in his office playing tiddlywinks with RE & BB.

There is really nothing wrong with playing an Oklahoma when we due which is off in the distance. That will be sort of a template to see if we ever again belong playing a team like that. So we get beat. At least it is a home and home (albeit a Meadowlands or YS game) but at least we will get the home field signage in a NYC game.
Notre Dame? The hell with playing them. They screwed us on the return YS game that was going to be scheduled in Orlando as our home game with our signage saying that it was "not in the best interest for the University of Notre Dame " to give us a return go.
They can kiss my rear end for that one.
If I were the Army AD (I 'aint of course), I wouldn't play those bums until we get a home game with them at our place. Until then, "bug off".
Let them strut their Irish jig on some other patsey of their choosing. NOT us. wink

It does not matter if Army joined a conference or not. Until we get a HC who has a clue on how to fix the D and stop the fumbles we will be a independent doormat or the doormat of (insert conference name here ) conference.

We need a HC that makes our players afraid to fumble and afraid to lose. Not a guy who says it is okay as long as the guys had fun.

Kansas State has not had incidents of shooting in its athletic..

dorm as did Oklahoma. By NCAA standards they have run a decent, clean program.
As for Navy and the Big East, if that conference does indeed fall apart, I've no doubt Navy will find a suitable alternative, while RE and ****** are sitting on their hands, or maybe out golfing.
The fact remains that any number of little-known schools have in recent years moved up, or are planning to do so, to Div1A status, while WP ''leaders'' dither.

New Conference

(Com)plain,
OK I see.  We have to schedule a football factory that runs a "decent, clean program"  for our leadership to not be sitting on their hands or being accused of spending their time golfing.  Plus we have to get in a suitable conference.

How about Stanford??  Would that work for you??

What would be a suitable conference for you??  I suggested (not really endorsing eithor) the ACC or SEC.  I don't see any other conferences as being good for what we are trying to be at Army.

CUSA - Not again
MAC - Do we want our big game to be NIU (not saying anything bad about NIU, I envy their success)
Big Ten - Do you want to play in Indiana or Wisconsin in late November?
Big 12 - ??
MWC, WAC, PAC 12 - not feasible
Sun Belt - Big match-up verses FAU or FIU??
Big East - Currently this is CUSA revisited but worse.

The best alternative would be ARMY & Navy being the driving forces in/of a new conference.  Maybe this conference could include the likes of (just dreaming here - no logic except trying to bring in teams & their rival & having a footprint along the East Coast & South East):
   Duke
   UConn
   UVa
   Boston College
   Va Tech
   UNC
   Ga Tech
   Vanderbilt
   South Florida
   Central Florida
   La Tech
   Baylor

Potential teams to make a super conference of 16 Teams:
   Liberty
   South Alabama

Division 1:                     Division 2:
Army                               Navy
UConn                             Va Tech
Duke                               South Florida
Baylor                             BC
Vandy                             La Tech
UCF                                UNC
UVA                                Ga Tech
Liberty                            South Alabama

Name the Divisions -

Division 1 - MacArthur Division
Division 2 - Nimitz Division

oldgrad,

You spent a lot of time on that post. I like the proposal. Too bad, you do not have any say - seriously.
