The Big East (BE) offers Air Force the best of all football worlds! 

1.  You get paid!  Specially if NBC wins the bid. There will be extra premium revenue because of your star power.  You are Air Force!

2.  BE games will in conjunction with ND.  The BE has more schools in major cities than any conference.  Major exposure for your program.  Oh and forget that distance stuff.  ACC (SYR-MIA), BIG12 (WV to TTU).   For that matter,(FL to LSU) (9 plus hrs non-stop).  Trust me. Ain't nobody driving to these games.   And this too.  Air Force is well respected in Houston and in Texas.  I went to the HOU/AF games.  Air Force is very popular. 

3.  This is the right balance of getting paid, exposure and competition. 

4.  If you don't take this opportunity you're going to play who....on channel what ..on only MTNUSA.  Don't be stupid.  Press your leaders to move!  Move now.  Help us fortify the BE.  Get paid.  And  if necessary somewhere down the road move again.  You're Air Force and will always be in demand.

No offense Sir, but the Big East isn't going to make it if it is full of schools thinking this way.

Not gonna happen in the immediate future; AFA has made a commitment to be a part of this new "Alliance Conference" or whatever it might end up being called.  The AFA will stick to its word to get this merged conference up and running and do its best to make it a success.  If at the end of 2014 the whole thing looks like it has no legs there might be a reevaluation of joining the BE if the invite is still there and the conference is worth joining.

Big East is the best bet, if we ever want a chance to get to a BCS bowl game (or whatever it may end up being after 2014).

USAFA really does not travel that well, the great Thudgate crew hits the road, but our numbers are in the hundreds, not thousands.  So who cares if the drive is 5 hours to NM, or  17 to Louisville - there are airplanes.

It is a step in competition, even the new BE, and there is more money and exposure.  

BE also plays in better recruiting areas, there are actually people not cows.

The Big East will be negotiating their TV contract this fall, and will need to know their line up before the talks start.  The Alliance has said they will require their schools to grant their TV rights to the Alliance.  Finally, Navy will not play a Big East schedule + Army, Notre Dame and Air Force.

Therefore, Air Force's commitment to the Alliance will mean:

1.  Fresno State leaves the Alliance and joins the Big East in Air Force's place, and
2.  Navy will ultimately cancel their Air Force series.

In other words, Air Force won't have the luxury of waiting until 2014 to decide on a Big East offer.

You really don't know much....AF vs Navy will not be cancelled...period...dot.

I was an advocate of AF joining the BE, but the fact of the matter is they didn't and your attempt to try and convince anyone here that they will do so because of some drivel that came out of the mouth of Navy's HC is laughable.

DU: Not a fan of that idea for several reasons. Chief among those, Air Force does not capture the Denver market. Neither did Colorado in the same sense that, say, Texas or Texas A&M captured a market.

Here's the bottom line: All the true home run expansion possibilities are gone. A&M and Nebraska have massive fan bases that move the needle and provide a lot for any league. None of that is around anymore, but West Virginia was somewhat along that line.

Bigger than that, though, is the reasons why WVU and TCU punched tickets to the Big 12: Greatness on the football field. You don't want to count on a big fan base carrying TV ratings. What carries even more TV ratings? Nationally relevant games. You get nationally relevant games by having top 25 teams playing. Air Force doesn't have that.

To me, teams like Louisville and BYU are big question marks in that area, though BYU has the biggest fan base left. Either way, Air Force won't fit either of those. Not a fan of the Falcons in the Big 12. Louisville should be No. 1 if the Big 12 looks to expand, and BYU supposedly comes with plenty of other complications in terms of wanting to do things its way in the boardroom. They love independence. WVU wanted out of the Big East, and TCU's dreams came true with a Big 12 invite. For now, the league should stand pat.
