Notre Dame game 2015

So the Denver Post is saying the game in 2015 might be held in Chicago, Denver or Dallas. I understand Chicago and Denver but Dallas?

You are correct sir! I would be happy to go to any of those locations.

Dallas is arguably the best of the three sites for a few reasons.

Not to simply be argumentative here Viking BUT the ONLY venue outside of Falcon Stadium for this game is Mile High Stadium in my opinion if this is truly a money making affair.

Chicago is in no way a "neutral" for this game.  Chicago is loaded with real and subway ND alums/fans.

Jerry's World in Arlington and in a state where we recruit heavily is a monstrosity of excess run by one of the worst owners in the NFL.  Jones controls all events in that stadium.  As such he charges insane rates for tickets, parking and concessions.  It takes the fun and affordability out of a college event. Jerry's World is NFL all the way!

What's curious here is that if Mueh is only looking to profiteer from moving the game to a big venue, why not this year when ND is coming off the year they just had?  Until ND can show they are the monster program of the past on a consistent basis hold the game at Falcon Stadium. Air Force needs to get this football program healthy from a competitive standpoint before they start taking the circus on the road in my opinion.

My other fear with moving the game is that this athletic department would have to hire an outside promoter to market and sell the event, maybe even in Denver too.  That comes at a cost and then you factor in the travel etc....I seriously question the profit moving this game would bring.  We've been wooed before by a promoter who wanted us to play in Seattle and there were great promises of $$, but the guy was a clown and he went bankrupt.  We didn't get paid.

no offense taken... i understand.  but i disagree.

1. i'd be willing to make you a bet there would be more Air Force fans show up for a game in Dallas rather than Denver.  there is a significant AF following in the Dallas area and a rather large military presence in the area especially down south on I-35. the AFB games had very good AF showings - my expectation would be that this turnout would amplified significantly with a ND at Cowboys stadium draw.

2. im not sure if you live in the DFW area, i do.  the college games that go on at Cowboy stadium every year are major showcases and draw more than just the school's own fans - it will bring out the DFW college football fans.  it would be an excellent marketing opportunity for our institution and aid in our brand equity.

3.  HUGE win for recruiting.  do you know how many kids would love the thought of being able to play at Cowboys stadium?  many young boys in the area (and in Texas) see that as the epicenter of all of football.  the chance to play there would be big for them.  i think it would be a nice tool to have in the recruiting bag.

just my thoughts.

It doesn't matter where you play other than Falcon Stadium, there are gonna be a LOT more Irish fans at the game.  That's the nature of the beast........your home game becomes a de facto road game...... just like Navy-ND at the Meadowlands. Don't matter......it's ALL about the Benjamins. If Hans is smart he'll put the game up for auction and take the best deal. I agree that Jones is a money-sucking carnival barker, but if he offers the most bucks......take it. I can guarantee you all your kids (and recruits) will be excited about playing in Cowboy's Stadium.

Shoot, my nephew has already played in Jerry World 3 times!  (His school won the 5A champ in December).

Lap is right, last time ND came to town I was coming off of a trip trying to make it down to the game from DIA - parking lot the whole way and they were all "Irish" fans (although only about 2500 of them actually went there!)

Re: Notre Dame game 2015

I've read Notre Dame's athletic director has stated ND's future schedules will include an annual "Shamrock Series" game at a neutral site each year.  Last year, it was in Chicago against Miami.  In 2009, ND played Washington State in San Antonio.  Their scheduling paradigm is 6 home, 5 at opponent's staadium and one "Shamrock Series" game at neutral location (i.e., NFL stadium).

The 2015 AFA game probably will be their annual "Shamrock Series" game.  Hopefully the promotor's check won't bounce like the Washington game's promotor's check did a few years ago.  frown

RE: Notre Dame game 2015

Agree with Vik on this one. Even with slightly less $, the recruiting benefits and brand messageing of playing in Dallas would be worth the paper loss. I know some people on here think that USAFA sells itself; if you don't buy that questionable postion, playing in Dallas is a bigger win than playing 50 miles away in Denver.

If it happens, they should find a way to send a lot of the Wing down and get multiple fly-overs (going to be hard in these days of CRs and Sequestration) because it'll be a PR bonanza. Can the WOBs jump through that hole in the roof? :)
