Coaching Carousel
Lots of Head Coaching Jobs opening up: Auburn Arkansas Tennessee Kentucky Boston College N.C. State Purdue Colorado California
Unfortunately, I have not head Calhoun's name come up for any of these jobs. Not that I want him to move on...but if he was at least getting consideration, it would mean that AFA was doing well.
I did read that Deruyter might get a call from Colorado. The sooner he leaves Fresno the better for us, because I get the feeling he might build a monster program out there.

Re: Coaching Carousel
The Colorado powers that be would make a serious blunder if they didn't pick up the phone and call Troy Calhoun about an interview. Mike AFAfan wrote: Lots of Head Coaching Jobs opening up: Auburn Arkansas Tennessee Kentucky Boston College N.C. State Purdue Colorado California

Re: Coaching Carousel
Jim Arthur said that his contact up in Boulder have TC high on their list and want to talk with him. I also saw a blog report over the weekend that Tenn has TC on their list of potential coaches again.
All hearsay but I'd be shocked if he didn't get a couple of feelers come his way.

Re: Coaching Carousel
BBIED, You're spot on in terms of being shocked if TC wasn't high on several program's list of contenders. Coach Calhoun is well known in the state of CO for his success with Broncos and the Academy. He already has strong recruiting ties into the states you'd want to bring prospects in from i.e. California, Texas, Georgia and Ohio. There would be zero concerns with him about past behavior issues and he would no doubt make sure he had some type of direct control over player character related concerns. A move up the road to Boulder wouldn't put a great deal of stress on his family or any of the assistant coaching staff he would take with him. He shouldn't be considered a Paul Johnson type prospect in terms of being focused on an option based offense because he would likely put together what you see the Texans running. Very attractive candidate, Mike BirdBorneIED wrote:Jim Arthur said that his contact up in Boulder have TC high on their list and want to talk with him. All hearsay but I'd be shocked if he didn't get a couple of feelers come his way. TC just completed his sixth year as AF HC. It's his program entirely......recruits, the Prep School, assistant's, etc. Your team went 6-6, lost to two horrible teams and got shellacked in their final game. His track record is South, not North. Do you really think he's still a hot coach ? FTR....I don't care, but I think he was a LOT hotter 2-3 years ago than he is now. In any event, we'll see as the annual coaching kabuki dance proceeds. WGLAP the Greek is betting he'll still be your coach next month.

Re: Coaching Carousel
CU is a self-admitted graveyard now. TC is WAY too smart to get involved. Until and unless the CU power structure decides what it really wants from its FB program and what they're willing to do to accomplish it they're going to have a VERY hard time getting a good coach regardless of how many bucks they throw at him. There's a coaches' network and all the smart ones know what the good and bad jobs are. In that profession you seldom get to fail more than one or two times as a HC. Any good coach is going to arrive at his CU interview with a VERY long "honey do" list for Bohn. I think Tedford would be a good get for them. As a Squid I'd love to see them get the SJSU guy......we play them the next two years and they seem to have our number.

yes. and yes. Any coach who goes into CU will need buy-in from the school's administration as well. It's a two-way-street wglap wrote: CU is a self-admitted graveyard now.
