Can you return if you never actualy left (Sd/bs) and do we want the Borg back?

Based on what kind of programs UT State and San Jose State seem to be producing the MWC would be formidable if those three programs were to return.

Re: Welcome back?

I admit its all about the money for most schools, but wouldn't it be to AFA's advantage to stick with the the Mountain West's membership next season of 10 football programs: Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State and Wyoming?

I base this on last week's decision by the BCS commissioners to award an automatic access bowl berth to the highest-rated champion from the "Group of Five" conferences starting in 2014.

AFA will have a better won-lost record and chance to be the MWC Champion in a weaker conference without BSU, BYU, and SDSU, thus a better chance for a BCS bowl berth.

Also, How does a 12 team MWC conference affect the Army and Navy games?

P.S. Oh joy. My F-16 flying son just got my old tactical callsign  "Yogi" given to him by the Juvats. Yogi is also my son's real middle name.

Re: Welcome back?

Air force would definitely be in a better position to be conference champion; but the MWC and most conferences have a "Sharing" agreement in their conferences for bowl money, so i don't think it affect air force either way.

Now personally, I do think air force would actually be better off in the Big-East; under certain situations.

1. If they are still a viable conference and doesn't lose ALL their teams.
2. If not only navy which is scheduled to join; but also ARMY needs to be in it too.
3. If SDSU and Boise stay in the Big-East and possibly BYU goes to it also.
4. If the TV deal does produce about $6 million per football only team as expected
5. If we have a satisfactory conference to put our non-Football into.

Having navy and army in the conference would free up 2 OOC games. This would allow us to maintain rivalry/close games with teams like CSU, New Mexico, and Wyoming. The money is substantially more than we are getting now. And finally; it is simply MY OPINION; but as long as I've followed air force football, (Little over 30 years), with the exception of a couple years, air force always seems to play to the level of their competition. Especially good when we're the underdog. That's why I would have liked air force football in the Big-12. I really believe it would have made us a BETTER TEAM.

Re: Welcome back?

Actually having more teams is better.  14 team conference = 2 divisions so 7 conference games in your division + maybe/maybe not one out of division game + 4-5 OOC games (for Air Force we'd play Army/Navy plus 2 or 3 more just like now) and then a playoff game.= 12 games plus a playoff if you made it plus a bowl. Wow...that would be nice.

RE: Welcome back?

Dead on target in terms of regaining exposure in Texas.  UTEP would need to be in that discussion, but who the hell knows where all this will lead to!
