A Touch of Good News

A Touch of Good News

Over the past few years we have had what seems to be more than our fair share of tragic news on this board. Board memebers and family members who have passed way to soon.

So if I may, I would like to share something.  On a joyous morning I am well aware of the pain that others still endure.

On her 30th birthday in July of 2011, my oldest daughter was confirmed to have Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Through many of her early years her goal was to attend USAFA, a dream which slowly faded through middle school.  She did however attend the class of 2002's ring dance as a guest, courtesy of a chance seating at the Silicon Valley bowl. She came very close to being an AF wife. Through it all she remained a loyal Falcon supporter, occasionally even having shot of the good Dr. Weed.

Between Christmas and New Years last year she was hospitalized at UCLA with multiple types of lung infection as a result of treatment. Her prior habits of running in a number of half marathons and training for the LA Marathon when she became ill probably saved her. A few long weeks later she was pronounced symptom free.

But now for the gooood part. Last night at 5:31pm she gave birth to my second grandchild. A health baby girl. Mom and newborn are doing fine.

Agustin and FlyAA, I hope I made you smile.  Coastie my friend rest in peace.. And GO my dear friend I will always remember.

L......thank you 'so' much for reminding us about the importance in life and that this board and football are sideline stories to what is really important.  Thanks and God's Blessings to your daughter and her family!  Love to all........Rick '77

B-Man,

As a father who lost a six year old son to heart disease I am overjoyed to hear the good news you bring to us!

Happy holidays and God bless your daughter and your granddaughter,

Baldacci,  You made me cry and smile with your post.  Congratulations to your family on the newest addition!  Babies are a gift from God!

I love the Falcon family.  I don't think I tell you all that often enough.  You are like a bunch of brothers to me.  The kind that are chosen.  Very special.

Re: A Touch of Good News

I enjoyed hearing the good news!  Perhaps I'll see you and your extended family at a future game (or done here in Orange County for a game on the tube).  I too had my share of long evenings in prayer for one of my twin daughters who was born with liver problems.  She had a transplant at 9 and is now 28. It does tend to render life's other ups and downs less significant.
