Post game thoughts?

Anyone? The Aggie win over Bama help ease my pain.

Does anybody plan to make the ridiculous point that, since we had more yards, first downs, etc., than SDSU (as some did regarding the Navy game), we are a better team?  eek1

Another strange and disappointing game in a strange and disappointing season.  We looked good in spots...even better than SDSU...but....Something.  Is.  Missing.   This team does not have "It".

Every time we make a mistake, I say "well, we'll fix that - it's an aberration".  At some point, though, you have to admit:  We are who we are.  We fumble.  We miss kicks.  We miss defensive assignments.  We're not very good.

Individually, I like these guys.  As a team, they have underperformed big time.

How many days till the '13 season kicks off?

I was going to ask if "we lost" or "they won", but it seemed a little too soon. But since you brought it up. I guess at this point if you don't have a sense of humor you'd be standing on the ledge.

I'm a relatively young falcon fan, having only really been following them for just under 20 years, but this is the most frustrating season in my history. The generally poor play interspersed with plays, series, or games of brilliance is hard to wrap my head around. Keeps me coming back though.

To me it comes down to one thing, and usually does for SA teams. Turn-over margin. We're getting crushed on not only turnovers, but failing to capitalize on the ones we get and allowing them to capitalize on ours. Throw in a horrible kicking game and you've got a recipe for a .500 season. (or worse)

To take a page from our illustrious Deputy Commander in Chief, it comes down to two words . . . turnovers! And to quote a slightly hyper ex-coach of one of the football programs north of the AFA, "It's division one football." At least he had that right.

EXACTLY. There was zero fire on that sideline and even less leadership. This is not a very good football team.

RE: Post game thoughts?

This team has perfected the art of the self inflicted loss and credit has to be given to every team that has exploited that glaring weakness. Our frustration as fans is that we see the flashes of outstanding play that sooner or later vanish with mind farts from players who cannot seem to stay focused on performing at a high level on every snap. Being fundamentally sound and executing your assignments properly seem to be pre programed to fall straight from the brain out the butt with players on both sides of the ball.

Just when you think the entire D gets one or two players have a complete brain malfuntion, forget how to tackle, remember where they are supposed to be or flat out allow their individual opponent to dominate them in a physical battle.

An AF O line that had played so well all season now shows serious issues in providing pass protection. CD was under constant pressure during these last two games and you know Fresno will fully exploit that new crack in the Falcon's armor. The fumbling is on the players, nothing has changed in how they were previously coached to carry the ball, it is preached and practiced on every week. In this game you had a strange drop of the ball by CD and a bad exchange with a RB which are not reflective of the defender caused fumbles this season.

Doing the little things right on every single snap of the ball is one of the critical factors in producing good football teams. So is having players who play at max power every second they are on the field. Ty MacArthur and Alex Means are the poster players for the other Falcons who perform that way. Unfortunately not all their bros on the team embrace that work ethic and it was especially glaring in the losses to UNLV, Navy and Army. Addressing that bad attitude is easy when you have depth, you simply replace him with someone who gets it, but when you have a significant lack of depth you unfortunately have to go with what you've got. The failures of this season are in fact directly tied to the failure of teammates off the field before the season started.

Two more games are left in the season and we will soon see the character of those players who have failed to focus and play full tilt.

Assuming we beat HI and lose to Fresno we qualify. My thought is we don't deserve to go bowling. Not at .500 with a less than impressive win against a 1aa team to get to 6. Not saying we don't go because they need the extra practice and I am sure the be benefits outweigh the costs but we don't deserve to go

In my humble opinion, the Falcons absolutely deserve to go to a bowl with six wins. The requirement to qualify for a bowl has been set by the governing body, and AFA will have achieved that qualification. The Academy athletes have to put up with so much throughout the year that they, the players, absolutely deserve to go to a bowl. And I'll be there to support them.

Take away our turnovers, and we would all be praising this great season. The last two games can be won if we fix that problem.
