Swisher

I'd love to see the Bucs go for Nick Swisher.  I met him a couple years back and can tell you he's all heart and would be a great fit for the Burgh.  Put him in right, Marte in left and Jones at first. Money will probably stop this from happening though...

RE: Swisher

I love Swisher as a player and would love to have him. However with his age and strong performance he's probably getting a 100 million dollar contract for 6 or 7 years and that's way too much for a 32 year old.

His numbers would be hard to duplicate in Pittsburgh. He's been in the middle of a powerful lineup and hitting to a very short Yankee Stadium porch in right.

That's probably true, but his style of hitting would still be more likely to work for a longer period of time because he draws so many walks.  In other words his ability to get on base would probably endure even after his bat begins to slow down.

I'd split the difference and see if he wanted to come here for 3 years plus an option.  For a mild overpay, and given the type of guy he appears to be, and given that he's already been there, done that in New York---maybe he'd bite.  I'd give it a shot.

I agree with all of that.  I'm not at all opposed to getting Swisher.  To the contrary, go get him!

I just doubt he'll hit for the same numbers.
