That's probably true, but his style of hitting would still be more likely to work for a longer period of time because he draws so many walks. In other words his ability to get on base would probably endure even after his bat begins to slow down.
I'd split the difference and see if he wanted to come here for 3 years plus an option. For a mild overpay, and given the type of guy he appears to be, and given that he's already been there, done that in New York---maybe he'd bite. I'd give it a shot.
