The Mets are terrible.

The Mets are terrible.

I wonder what they would want for Wright?  More than we should give up, I'm sure.

They just signed him to a 8 year extension. He's not getting traded anytime soon!
Blame it on "a certain someone"

He is a great player, but with contract and his lack of durability I would not touch him with a 10 foot poll especially in the case of a team like the Pirates with limited payroll.

In saying that, Mets are not trading him.

Speaking of terrible...I am sick of seeing McKenry behind the plate.

Yeah, the downgrade from Martin is really noticeable. Sanchez has been hitting in AAA so far, with some pop.

McKenry is a bit of an odd duck in that he actually has the opposite profile of what you usually find in a number two catcher.  Most number twos are strong defensive players who can't hit much, whereas McKenry---while he doesn't hit for an average---definitely can hit for power and has a much stronger offensive game overall than most backups or short half of the platoon types.  Unfortunately his defense is somewhere in the neighborhood of "mediocre".  For this reason it would not surprise me if he was traded at the deadline and Sanchez brought up to be the number two for the remainder of the season.

The Mets remind me of their John Stearns, Lee Mazzilli days...

Given the resources the Mets have available, the mismanagement of their organization is very evident.

Funny how last year we blamed the pitchers for our woes. Then we get Russell Martin and it's just evident that McKenry will be targeted in the run game every time out there (much like Barajas).

Not that our pitchers are particularly helpful...but Martin is good enough to keep runners honest.

I'm hopeful that Sanchez's start in AAA is legit. He finally has back all of his strength from the 2nd broken jaw, if his Twitter is to be believed, and I guess a slight mechanical adjustment was made as well. We'll see.

He's a catcher, so he doesn't need to rake to be an above-average regular. I watched the Toledo vs. Indy game on MLBN this morning, and he has a tremendous arm behind the plate. Gunned a runner down from his knees, and went 1-3 with a 2B and BB.

Screw it, get Fort out of town now. His .230 average isn't enough to justify his horrid defense, power or not. Holy smokes is he a liability on the field.

Can't frame a pitch to save his life either. The ump is buying Lucroy's sell jobs, particularly on the outside corner. AJ not getting the same help.
