Yes!!  I was really hoping we brought him back.  I think he's going to turn into a very good middle of the rotation type guy.  If we do indeed trade Hanny for Capuano and go with AJ, Wandy, Cap, JMac and Morton as a starting rotation, with Cole and Taillon not far behind, we could be very good for a long time.

You mean except for 2013, when Morton is still recovering from Tommy John surgery, I assume.

Oh man, I didn't see the part about him not being back until the 2nd half of the season.  Last I heard, he was gonna be throwing full time soon and things were looking good.  Seems he's got a ways to go yet.

That, plus there's still the matter of what's going on between his ears.  But, he certainly stuck it in more than few peoples' faces---mine included---with his comeback from one of the worst seasons any starting pitcher has ever had in all of major league history.  On that count alone, he at least deserves a shot at coming back from the surgery.

As for the Pirates "being good for a long time", Burnett, Rodriguez, and Capuano are no spring chicken.  Burnett, for sure, will be gone in the near future.  Rodriguez may stick around longer.  Capuano is a very good pitcher when healthy, but he's been living on borrowed time for the past couple of seasons.  In other words, that's a rotation built to win "right now", for 2013 and 2014.  Beyond that we'll need reinforcements.  Of course, by that time we should have Cole and Taillon leading the way.

That's basically what I was going at.  We'd be good now and then hopefully within 2 years we have Cole, Taillon, Jmac, maybe Morton and even Heredia on the horizon.

Let's have a single .500 season before we start dreaming about being good for a very long time.
