Rule V - 40 Man Roster

Pretty uneventful this year.  Not enough depth to worry about losing anyone.

RE: Rule V - 40 Man Roster

Yeah the 2008 draft was mostly college players and the 2009 draft was mostly high school players so it created a year long gap where you don't have many players to protect. This year the players that need to be protected are the 2008 high school players and the 2009 college players. Not sure if it was done on purpose or just purely coincidental but it was a pretty good strategy to minimize having to expose prospects.

I'm just surprised they left Kaminska off the list as he really turned into a ground ball machine and had a good AFL.  He looks like he could be an excellent back of the rotation starter.  They could of easily rolled off Beck or Hague off the roster but then again those guys will likely be removed when the team signs a free agent.

They must not put much stock in AFL stats.

We protected Victor Black even though he had a terrible AFL season (11.81 ERA, 17 hits and 11 walks in 10.2 innings).

Yep, that's pretty terrible, alright.  Let's hope Black didn't get hurt again.  This past season was the first in which he more or less made it through an entire year---and he obviously showed he has considerable ability.  Doesn't do him or us any good if he can't stay on the field, though.

Black was primarily working on a new pitch for his time in the AFL. He could of put up an ERA of 165.73 and still would of been a no brainer to protect.

Kaminska had a good summer because he found a great new recipe for green smoothies.
